Borderlands 2 | Top 5 Mistakes New Players Make

For me I like getting boosted because it shows me what I can expect later in the game while experiencing it myself idk if that makes any sense but my first character was boosted a tiny bit (like ten levels) and some one dropped an insane amount of gear and that moment made my Brain think “my god I love this game” so all characters op8 then 10 respectively it certainly didn’t turn me off of the game

I think I have some 2000 hours across Borderlands games, never completed any of them. I always want to tinker and play with unique or goofy builds, or try to make some dumb legendary workable.


I've never looked at classic or meta builds, I'm not interested in what people think is 'best' as to me that kills the joy of the game - exploration and working things out for youself while meeting challenges. If you follow someone else you're not playing your game, just imitating theirs while not understanding why it was built that way.

I've never cheated in BL, there's no need in a world of infinite loot and it devalues any success you have as you didn't earn it. My nephew brought in a cheat character unasked in a game he was hosting, dropping crazy gear (tens of millions dmg) maxlevelled in 10 mins. I felt dirty afterwards and deleted the character. No point in playing that any more.

"Don't copy someone" in a game where there are only 7 viable builds between all 6 characters in OP 10.

I suck at this game. I can’t find any good weapons and gear. Still struggling with the second play through.

Weapon level does not matter, only the stats. Admittedly, higher level weapons will tend to have the better stats, but I have seen lower level drops WAY outscale my current gear.

I’ve played bordlelands 2 for about 7 years

#2 Copying someone. My brother just started playing, and I have not told him about any builds he should try for Maya. All I told him concerning skill points, is that 5 points into a single tree unlocks 2nd tier skills for that tree, 10 points unlocks 3rd tier skills, etc. And then let him create his character from there. If he thinks he screwed up, I'll be taking him over to the machine for him to reset his skill points.

#1 Boosting/Cheating. In continuation of the fact my brother started playing, I did the complete opposite of boosting. And yes, I know this is cheating, I don't care: I used a Profile Editor, and completely reset my Badass Rank. 0 Points, 0 Tokens, 0 Bonuses. Mind you, I backed everything up, thereby saving my BAR stats before changing everything, so I can return to my more powerful play, when I decide to play with others, or by myself. But when I play with my brother, it'll be with my completely reset profile. I even took unspent Gold Chest keys, and dropped them to 5 (I had 15, so now my proper profile has 10, while my reset profile has 5) so that I can't just use the gold chest to get awesome gear whenever I please. I have to think more about it.

I've started this series about a year back and after finishing bl1 and taking a break, i played this, started with psycho kreig and loved his melee aspects so i made a melee build with explosives and have some explosive AR rn, it is the best game that i have played in a long time, follow these reccomendations, it makes the game very challenging and fun

I think mine was not to really pay attention to the skill trees. I kind of put the skill points all over the place without thinking much how they would support each other or how I was playing the game.

If you use the siren with the infinity pistol and all of the elemental skills with it, the infinity pistol basically becomes a beast no matter what. Because the elemental damage levels up with you, the gun you use will no longer matter. That's why the siren is so OP in this game. One thing that does ruin the game for me are modded characters. If you make yourself basically a god from the beginning, the game will no longer feel challenging. I honestly have more fun when enemies take longer to fight. Another thing that ruins the game are players who join and then switch to their OP character or have modded items and constantly try to trade with you. I will admit that I do mod, but I never want to ruin a player's game, and I always have my own legit game. One thing I wish Gearbox would do is make it to where when you join a player's game, you automatically level with the player and the enemies. For example, you can join a level 1 player with your level 80 character, but you enter the game at level 1 with all of your weapons downgraded to level 1 as well. When you go back to your game, all of your weapons and your character's level reset to the way it was before. That on its own would solve a lot of matchmaking issues. With that being said, you would also have more online matchmaking games to join since level matchmaking doesn't matter if you join at the player's level.

To anyone out there. There is no wrong way or right way to play a game. Just chill level up, and have fun.

The cheating point can be a bit subjective. I find using gibbed to change parts on unique rewards or legendaries that I farmed helps prevent burnout. I don't do this much in multiplayer as it slows the game down and does ruin the game for others. For singleplayer though, I'm not read only farming for hours when I could get 1 Pimpernel, change the parts, clone it, and swap the elements in 5 minutes. Especially when I'll they will be out leveled in a couple hours. I get to play the game more rather than spend that time running through the same map and then save-quitting to do it again.

Another honourable mention: Doing the side quests.
I think it is essential in the very first playthrough, because if you don’t, the areas will soon be a couple levels above you, whereas if you do all side quests then it will be reversed, and you will stay just ahead of the curve. Best for casual players.

I keep my epic and legendary weapons,i would just keep legendaries but epic weapons hit me with something, but in borderlands 3 i still have no idea where the safe is especially cuz i ain't played it in forever.

I played the Pre Sequel in depth before borderlands 2 and I enjoy the vertical gameplay and the VHs a lot more in the pre sequel.

I played all the BL games and BL2 is still my favorite. I died many times playing before I got the hang of it. Like you said
it`s so fun to get a real good gun that lasts 4-5 rounds. The 4 shell exploding shotguns are my favorite. Jack is the BEST!

I play solo, so I definitely didn’t get boosted. And I suck at fps’s so it was a hard but fun ride. TPS was a bit to much of a pain though like that

how do i enter the dlc? i got the goty editon, i installed the dlcs but i cant find them in the game. do i need to make a PlayStation account? or maybe im just low level for the dlc to appear? idk.

I knew this person online that would bring me in her game,turn in one mission, and level me from 1 to 72. She'd also drop a mod bee shield,when you sell it,it would give you the money but wouldn't leave your inventory and would make your backpack space go down and into the negative. It kind of got boring quick. Seems fun but really isnt.

I`ve been though the first 3 game levels, where/how do I get to 80-90 levels?

If any new player watches this! From what i learned i can say (and that might be against no 2):
If you want to have fun with uvhm and not just play normal and tvhm, watch playthroughs like joltzdudes ultimate playthrough or smth like low moral fibers farming vids.
Reason is:
1: You learn the strength of your character.
2: You learn what good gear is. Because i had no idea what good gear is and how to get it before i watched these vids. Because without help you will not have fun with uvhm or defeat any raid boss on your own.
You dont need to copy them, but they will teach you how to identify decent gear and how to make it work

Maybe enjoy the lore/story that's a big one.

Coming back to BL 2 after 11 years. I wanna play through all the BL games before BL 4 releases 😆
I completely agree with all you say. I once ruined the fun of BL3 for me by up-using glitches. Luckily i found my way back after some time.

i personally dont think drop rate mods are bad. I hate having to grind for a 10% or lower drop rate item. Having to grind for items burns me out in these types of games. I would rather have everything be 100% drop

Also I cant recommend vault hunter mode enough, normal mode playthrough at least once, but from that point its vault hunter much more fun rewarding and challenging, its pointless being OP and one shotting everything, sure its fun to do it once but gets really boring unless you are farming stuff for other characters through claptraps locker there really is no need.

Why not list reaching UVHM whilst being overlevel'd? Im a new player myself, and whilst some of the things mentionned in vid are valid, they are nowhere near of the importance of this one.

You should’ve noted axton specifically to the not quitting a character and the gear one as compared to any other vault hunter yes he’s as strong but ti a new player who doesn’t know any tricks then yea he’s severely underpowered in that regard



Also for the gear thing for him. He has one outta (maybe 2) viable legendary coms and the best coms yet isn’t even a legendary. It’s the blue or purple grenadier coms

Bandit assuilt rifiles are good when you have "the bee" shield

My single biggest tip is when playing NVM and TVHM your level affects everything. Being -1, on level, or +1 depending on what level the enemy is can make a big difference in how well you can take down enemies. If you’re struggling in a certain area grind out a level or two and come back and it’ll be significant difference in your effectiveness. And for UVHM your main goal is to get to level 80. The enemies are always going to be at the same level as you or +1. The less time you spend leveling in UVHM just means you can start farming good gear to bring into your first 3-4 OP levels.

I gave up on my lvl 50 psycho a few days ago 😅😅😅. His skill trees were not for me. His ult was not my favorite and I died ALOT while using him and was not having fun playing the game anymore. Maybe it’s a skill issue on my end but I made a gunzerker character and I’ve been having so much fun playing again.

Bordeland 1 is far better that 2 that why ive see a insane amount of cheater in Bordeland 2 and what the thing be extremely bad in borderlands 2 is the new dlc he got that retard to put for the limited edition and not in 360 back then that make angry so many people

Remember, if you don't like the hours of grind for legendaries, just install some mods to make the drop rates a 100% or so. It'll make your life a lot easier XD

I dont get attached to my old gear but I do save my legendary items so that my next character that needs that item doesnt have to go through the hassle of farming it again
i have a perfect lvl 30 and lvl 50 DPUH that almost every character I've taken in to true and ultimate vault hunter mode used until I leveled up enough for it to stop being useful

That's true..
I held onto three infinity ammo pistols with fire damage from level 8 until level 40...
I killed bosses like the bunker.....
But dam it took forever, thankfully i just hide in a spot and held down the trigger 😅
