Yikes, I forgot to show my speaker testing footage! The audio is excellent, with stereo differentiation and an overall balanced sound considering the size. It's also quite loud, I rarely have pushed it past 50%. I apologize for the omission, this channel is really going downhill!
ОтветитьI actually got the winmax 2 8000 series AMD. I would've gotten the Pocket 4 but the screen is too small to read, and the keyboard are too cramped. I just wished the winmax has the tablet feature, but I guess it's ok since it has a stronger screen hinge that would prolong integrity of the device. If I purchase anything smaller it would be a mini pc like the one with barebone X7(barebone Intel Core 9) or the Apple M4, both 600$.
ОтветитьSo.... how pocketable is it?
ОтветитьYour 8bitdo controller is awesome I love these colors. Where did you get it ?
ОтветитьAn an aussie i laughed at "most flights are likely to be around 7hrs or shorter" 7hrs is a short international flight for us
Ответитьhonestly that's what i have been saying since i saw the p4, if they can make a they make a hybrid between winmax 2 and p4 would be perfect, the issue about the max2 is too thick, making it exactly like p4 would be my perfect travel buddy while i'm ok with p4 with build in controls as it makes more sense for that size (looking to see what the one-netbook g1 will offer)
ОтветитьBut how about after sales support? They are produced in China, and most Chinese companies are very tight
Ответитьnon standard keyboard is the kiss of death for me. I need the standard ASDFJKL;
ОтветитьGPD and Framework are the only ones innovative enough to catch my attention in the laptop market. I had a GPD win 2 and would legit do game development on it when I wasn't playing the sims 3 or CK2. It was great for me to do game dev during my security job. I feel the pocket 4 is a bit big though - somthing that GPD devices have been trending towards in my opinion.
ОтветитьThose key placements immediately make me too uncomfortable to even think about typing on that thing
ОтветитьOnly 10,000 dollars
ОтветитьI really like this , would be great for arcade games and old school rpg's
Ответитьfuture form factor
ОтветитьThank you very much for the video.
Now I know that I wanna buy a Pocket 4. :-)
GPD Winmax 2 makes more sense to me with the built in controls, but this one is much lighter. The trick with the Winmax 2 is some basic comfort grips that attach on either side of the device. Makes gaming on in for much more than 30 minutes at a time possible.
ОтветитьWin Mini owner here, just ordered the Win Max 2 a bit ago. When i was first looking at all their products and deciding I was hoping they would come out with a pocket 4 because the pocket 3 specs were so behind compared to everything else. The pocket series seems so promising, glad they finally did.
Its a shame the Pocket 4 seems amazing, yet that keyboard is the killer for me, when you can just get the Win Max 2, for 2" bigger
I travel quite a lot for months on end, and i thought having the Win Mini would be the end all be all but i quickly found my self slowed down with the size and usability of the Win Mini's keyboard.
I was always worried about travel size, but if you think about it you can bring an iPad anywhere, and the Win Max 2 is smaller (yet thicker) than an iPad air. so i think the better buy is Win Max 2 in terms of overall use, travelbility and comfort.
The massive downfall of the Win Max 2 IMO is that refresh rate at 60hz, that seems like a silly compromise considering other devices have 120hz and how beefed out it is.
Great video, im glad you mentioned the win max 2 in this video and compared the pros and cons. I hope you enjoy this laptop
The prices are just total deal killers on these machines. If you want productivity, for $200 you can get a great netbook or laptop. If you want handheld gaming, $200 gets you any one of a huge number of devices in different form factors and screen ratios. Hybridizing the two together and charging 4x the price just isn't worth it. Also LMAO at that battery life.
Ответитьoh hey, a netbook.
ОтветитьThis is the perfect middle ground laptop for writers who travel a lot but won't take the clunky Chromebooks anymore
ОтветитьNearly perfect device it's just missing an Oculink or TB5 port. The "performance cap" complaint is silly since the WM2 is also 30w default and the 370 chip slaps anyway and there's diminishing returns with the power up to a point (logarithmic). The next generation of this will be spicy indeed.
Ответитьcan it run Tekken 8?
ОтветитьDid it come with windows 10? Because of keyboard logo
ОтветитьI will wait for ROG ally 2 or Legion 2 and get a portable key board. Save money and can do more+ have better game control.
ОтветитьGreat review! I want to tell you that "chipset" does not refer to the CPU and GPU. Chipset includes the IO and interconnects. I believe the northbridge and southbridge are included. Certainly PCIe capabaility. For example, the recent X870 AMD motherboards have the X870 chipset, sans CPU or GPU.
ОтветитьIf only it had an an oculink port, so So SO CLOSE to exactly what ive been waiting for
ОтветитьSaying you go "on travel" rather than "traveling" is a pet peeve I didn't realize I had
ОтветитьFor the love of God, and I say this in all appreciation of what russ does for the community: can one of the many manufacturers that he reviews make a smudge free special russ edition so he can reach his holy Grail? I think he deserves it at this point
ОтветитьI would just run at a lower resolution below 1080p. Btw the 7840u also has a default 28w tdp and max 50+ but most handhelds will not benefit beyond 30w.
ОтветитьKinda pointless
Ответить4th generation, and it still doesn't have the button I need to write my name.
Ответить$1300+ for an 8 inch laptop. I’ll stick to my iPad mini and keyboard.
ОтветитьNew years resolution is not to snack. Dammit Russ!!!!
ОтветитьGotta play Spider-Man at 60fps 🕸️
ОтветитьWould love something like this if it was cheaper. I do almost all my work and gaming on a desk, so I have very little use for a full sized laptop. A form factor like this would be great for using in bed or in the rare occasions that I travel, but I don't do either enough to to spend $800+ to replace my old Thinkpad.
Ответитьusing the screen on the other side makes it a bit more immersive - that is kind of a stretch
ОтветитьIf only Sony would have made this 10 years ago within the price range of normal people, they'd still be around in the laptop space
ОтветитьHow does this compare to the GDP Pocket 3?
ОтветитьThis, with controls that hide from the max and a better gaming screen would be just ideal. Wonder if anybody will ever put a 35w GPU into one of these? Running the 7840u at 12-16w and the rtx 4060 at 35w actually yields strong results compared to 55-60w through the 7940hs and other 780m/890m chips, especially at higher resolutions and textures. Doing just this on my Asus g14 for gaming while on USB-c in the car.
ОтветитьPlease show the internals and what could be upgraded or replace.
ОтветитьThey've finally done it. They created an actually decent netbook.
ОтветитьThat extra 4K subs came quick! Congrats on 600K subs Russ!
ОтветитьAnother great video, Russ!
ОтветитьAs an IT professional, the KVM, serial port, small size yet high resolution and relatively large keys for the size make this a perfect device for data center or remote equipment management.
ОтветитьThey called it "pocket". Which pocket can fit it?
No pocket test?
If I had to live with a single device, it would be the GPD Win Max 2, hands down. It's the only GPD device with a keyboard that I felt like I could actually type properly on, and I was fairly happy with the built-in controls, although I maybe wouldn't want to use it for a really long gaming session.
However, I realized I was not limited to one device, so I sold it and got a Win Mini and a Framework 13, and I'm really happy with that combination. I do most of my gaming on the Mini, and coding and emails and whatnot on the framework.
without stylus it's kinda pointless
btw why they still using windows 10 logo on the keyboard.. move on to win 11..
This channel is changing into a commercial channel.
ОтветитьThat price is insanity bud. 😮 lol
Ответитьso its called pocket….
