Thank you for acknowledging the fact that your shot on the kudu wasn't where you wanted it to be. I'm glad the shot was still lethal on such a beautiful animal. I think a heavier bullet out of a larger caliber would have probably been less affected by the wind, i.e. a 212gr or 220gr bullet out of a .300 PRC.

That is not the regular habitat of Kudu. They prefer dense bush which they use to hide in as a defense mechanism.

The owner of this hunting preserve seems to have bought kudu to offer to hunt on his ranch from elsewhere.

The really sad thing about hunting on South African game reserves as an overseas visitor is that you cannot take the meat home with you.

Most PHs would not let clients take shots at such long distance. Hunting is more than just precision target shooting. Tracking and stalking skills should put the hunter in close range, before the shot.

Brilliant hunt. Hunted hard and fair. Congratulations on a brilliant shot. Fair chase will often put a lot of pressure on the shot but your shot although high and back will destroy the main artery below the spine and will also kill with kidney damage

The terrain is so much different outside of Cape Town then in the north up by the border of Zimbabwe and Botswana. Looks more like the Nevada desert country. So like all who go to Africa, were you planning your next trip on the flight back?
