What about dried kelp

A bamboo farm is better. Carpet relies on a glitch and can be quite... Laggy.

And since hoppers can only move so many items per second and since carpet burns so quickly, using carpet as a fuel source does not allow you to fuel multiple furnaces off of a single duper. And since a chest a carpet can only smelt a half chest of items, you cannot smelt large quantities of items without constantly running your duper.

And bamboo has the same problem.

So a better fuel source than bamboo is dried kelp blocks.

Dried kelp can be farmed by making a long and deep pool that is 5 blocks wide and planting kelp all along the bottom. The top layer of water should be flowing water so that items that float up can be pushed towards a collection chute. You then want to build a flying machine in the pool that flies side to side, breaking the kelp. Funnel the item drops into a smelter array, send the dried kelp into a set of crafters to make dried kelp blocks, and then refuel the smelter array with the blocks with any excess sent to your main smelting array.

Awesome build, my only complaint is that piston will be so annoying

I made some kelp farm with observer using a pipe system made of hoppers and an automatic furnace system that make some dried kelp blocks just waiting afk

only needs a stone pick axe to mine?? is that java exclusive cause i’m bedrock you can use wood

Honestly I still prefer lava farms. They're easy and quick to set up. I have six cauldrons by my furnaces. I empty them when I go to put items in, I empty them again when I collect the smelted items. That's 1200 smelted items for like 30 seconds of work. Investing 5 hours in setting up an automatic farm can never beat that.

Lava is better but so fucking complexe to automize for a super smelter. So bamboo is the real best because no glitch

After saying the best fuel source does not need to be mined or farmed talks about a carpet farm that can be farmed

I usually go for a Blaze rods farm as I find then really useful (stacking up to 64 and lasting forerver)

Actually, the best one would be charcoal since you can make a I can’t fire with one charcoal. I always get two.

I’ll stick with my lava farm. Build an auto smelter and fill a double chest with lava buckets you can smelt 54,000 items.
