Actually coercive power would not work. The origins of royal power is in fact the sun, the aristocracy's role should be to illuminate society from above bringing into it the ascetic and heroic and impartial light from above. And it is Only This that can cohere the multiplicity of the masses. It is a conscious force. And they had their family rituals and religious practices that are very ancient.
That energy flows through society like sun rays, through the secret guilds, until it reaches the labourers and the earth. That is the integral society.
If the aristocracy no longer does that job, then there is not enough energy to cohere things and it all starts to fragment. The people at this time will argue and justify, they create groups and religions and trends and structures .... but stepping back the only solution and the only meaning is that the sun is not conveyed into society by the heroic and ascetic aristocracy which should be men who are themselves interested in rising into a higher world. Once they become worldly and material .... the consequences flow down.
