Props to getting it done solo. One way that has worked well for me are a pair of chain hoists and lifting straps. Make a DIY pair of brackets and hoisting it up is cake as well as making any needed adjustments. 👍
ОтветитьRetired General Contractor here...
The safest way to do this is to rent a manual lift. My rental yard has Genie lifts that are easily transported in the bed of a pickup truck. I have lifted 30 ft beams 16 ft high.
thats alot of screw holes in those finished posts...
ОтветитьThat was the most pathetic stupid azz way of doin that. 3 hrs for 2 beams. No fukin way will i use any fukin tips from thys video. Lil ego goes along ways wit thys idiot , to scared to much pride to stupid or to cheap to ask help. Pathetic
Ответитьthanks for the guide!
I'm looking forward to what you do next with the deck. I plan on doing the same framing but attaching the whole thing to my house.
what size deck is it going to be and did you go to the frost depth with the footings?
Any tips for making a drawing? I can't find any good free software that has options for framing a roof :( MS paint seems like the best. lol
I bought excellent e-book from WoodPrix.
ОтветитьWoodPrix includes very useful instructions with all details I need
ОтветитьI've done this before. Scab on a scrap 2x6 that goes maybe 5ft higher than your finished top, attach a "cable winch puller" for $20 to the top and to what you're lifting, and crank by ratchet you move your huge weight up to where you want it. Safely, also.
ОтветитьSuper helpful...thank you! That's one of those things that seem obvious AFTER the fact but never occurred to me beforehand. I need to do something similar at the front of my porch where a 16' 4x12 beam that held up the roof needs to be replaced. I was going to buy a hoist and chain to lift the new beam but this is prly a better way for working in the narrow space at the front of the porch as well as costing less
ОтветитьThis is just what I've been looking for. I've been trying to figure out how to raise big beams for our house build without machinery. This is great! Thanks for posting.
ОтветитьWell done!
