You were likely thinking that the green Empire pencil with the wide ferrule was the iconic Black Wing 602. Imagine finding a few of those in pristine shape. $40 each for the originals!! Still, all of these gems are valuable mementos.

Since I was in the 4th grade I have been looking for red/black double sided pens with what looked like a wood hexagonal barrel that was painted silver. Do you have any idea what I may be talking about? I’ve been wondering what writing instrument I’m imagining my whole life

Yeah I would have snatched that up for $3. So many goodies all made in the USA. Swingline Cub Staples (haven’t seen those in 30 years), those brass fasteners to use after you hole punched your paper, Dennison gummed stars, that Van Dyke typewriter is a real treasure.

Faber-Castell then Enerhard-Faber and finally Sanford made the Uniball pens. That micro is a good one if you like a super fine point. Dennison was bought out by Avery years ago.

All pens can be dried and broken down but pencil is entrnity and forever.
