A Tour of Chelmsford City Museum / Prehistoric, Roman, Essex Regiment Rooms

Stephen and Yhana take you on a walking tour of Chelmsford City Museum - Their aim was to explore the prehistoric and Roman rooms - They discover lots more along the way.

Yhana and I are starting our tour of Chelmsford Museum in the Essex Regimental Room - Which holds a vast military collection - All related to the Essex Regiment. We are sharing here a few photographs before we take you all on a walk around.

The Essex Regiment room is a great place to visit if you ever have the chance, the room includes a huge collection of medals gifted to the museum from soldiers of the Essex Regiment that have now passed away.

Yhana and I have our own family connection with the Essex Regiment - Our 2x great-grandfather Charles Barritt of Colchester enlisted with the 3rd battalion on the 21 November 1881 - He went onto serve in India for 1 year and 127 days, before he transferred to the Dorset Regiment in 1883.

Also on display, are weapons, uniforms, war time posters and the very beautiful silver regimental drums.

Steven and Yana also discover many of Neolithic and Bronze Age finds that have been discovered in the Chelmsford area over the years.
