Great video, thank you. Will be attempting this myself this coming weekend.
ОтветитьThanks for a good video, I'm actually doing this on Saturday.
ОтветитьG'day mate, just found your channel,.. great stuff, cheers.
ОтветитьThis has really got to be one of the best illustrated video that i have seen in a long time. I have this model that I maintain myself and some of these tasks are so unreasonable...
ОтветитьThanks for your detailed guide. I have been watching many videos on this recently as I'm replacing the conductor plate on my ML420. It is the earlier box that you mention, but I have not seen another mention of the 35°C instead of the 45°C.
I also found a reference to Mercedes fitted with oil coolers where you have to take the temp up to "normal operating temperature" to ensure the cooler loop is filled and then allow it to cool to 45/35 whichever. Thinking about this, it may be because the box will be draining for an extended period whilst the conductor plate is sent away for refurbishment. Any thoughts on this? It certainly would be quicker to achieve the cooling in the UK at present :) Appreciate your efforts - I will subscribe.
Hi thank you so much for an informative yet refined video I am one of those people who are curious about the torque converter fluid replacement also. But this job seems to be fairly straightforward now I have watched your video thank you again keep up the good work
ОтветитьFrom spain! Good video!
ОтветитьThanks , awesome video
Ответитьvery good movie thanks : grettings from Sweden
ОтветитьAwesome step by step instructions, thanks for sharing this dyi project. I have a 2008 W164 and the transmission is shuttering.
ОтветитьHi how are you I need to know where is the front sunroof hose in mercedes w164 because I want to clean it send to me a photo if you please thank you
ОтветитьThanks, Mate! This service is on my list!👍🏻
ОтветитьI have the same late model 722.9 transmission in my 2014 CLS550 that uses the blue oil. What kind of oil were you pumping in? It didn’t appear blue in color. Just curious.
I have called my local MB dealer and 2 independent MB shops. They all say not to drain the torque converter because it is “good” to leave some old fluid in the transmission. This makes zero sense to me. How can used, degraded fluid be beneficial to a gear?
I need to get my car up on a lift to see if I have a drain on my TC or not. If I don’t, then all I can do is the oil pan drain and refill. Hopefully doing this in the next couple of weeks.
Good video. All camera angles were straightforward and appropriate. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for your video! I have a question for you. If I don’t have an instrument for transmission temperature, can I just measure the old fluid drained and add the same amount new fluid back into the system?
ОтветитьCan I do a drain and refill without removing the pan?
ОтветитьAmsoil Synthetic fluid makes a HUGE difference in the 722.9 transmissions ♥️💪
ОтветитьThis IS not correct oil my friend!!!
ОтветитьCould a weak battery connection cause a p2759 code
ОтветитьVery good
Ответить필터 내부까지 보여주는건 처음 봤습니다
ОтветитьShouldn't the oval markings on the pan recommend blue colour oil?
ОтветитьHi, does the 2011 Mercedes ML 350 base model 2 Wheel Dr. procedure is the same?
ОтветитьI have a laser temperature gun to aim at the bottom of the pan to 45 C. Is that sufficient enough?
ОтветитьGreat informative video thank you 😀
ОтветитьHey, drew. I meant to disregard a question about the temp gun after rewatching the video. I have the exact drain plug a T40, and it starts to strip the bolt when I try to loosen. A 6 allen doesn't fit (HEX). If i hammer the bit in better is it possible I can get it to work. Thanks and cheers
ОтветитьDo u know how to reset the check engine light without a scan tool for the ml 350 w164? I would have to disconnect the auxilary and main battery if that works
ОтветитьVery good video.
First time i heard anyone mention the 2 different temperatures to measure the level.
Unfortunately you confused all your American viewers at the end when you said "roundabout".
Being from the uk, i understood you just fine.😊
Great diy video...thanks...will be doing it soon on my '11 S212.
Ответитьhi does the atf have to be red in colour?...nulon has the low viscocity mb 236.14 but its amber in colour
ОтветитьVery nice video, thanks. Why have you not used the blue fluid?
ОтветитьGreat video but let me tell you that the ATF you are using is not suitable for your car. 236.12, 236.13, 236.14, 236.15, 236.16, 236.17 are different specs and viscosities. There is no way a single product to support all these specs and viscosities for so many different car brands and models. Besides it is not approved by ΜΒ. You may use almost any ATF on any transmission but the MB 722.9 needs a very unique spec and viscosity.
ОтветитьGreat vid. I may try this in two years when the next service is due., Cheers from Wisconsin, USA.
ОтветитьWhen you change the gears you puss the pedal and dont let is up just switch PNDR ..?
ОтветитьI will love to come see you
ОтветитьI can hear your front diff humming
Ответить@Drewfixit can you please help out with my transmission problem? I have a strange rpm jump when shifting from 4-5 gear, it shifts at 2krmp but revs go to 2.2rpm, other gears are smooth. No error on dash..320 cdi, oil change performed 2 year's ago, with new filter.
ОтветитьWish I had seen this video earlier! I’ve just spent £500 to get this done at my garage 😮 it’s so simple to do yourself, great video thanks
ОтветитьThanks for a great series of vids on these nice cars! I looked on your episode for the transfer case and I understand that they have the same oil in both the automatic transmission and the transfer case. Isnt it advised to change both at the same time? I also read somewhere that they are in fact sharing the same fluid, but it might be an erronous statement ofcourse.
The reason Im asking is that I have codes and sometimes limphome on my car, its about 240000 km and first owner listened to the crap about sealed for life, so there are no transmission oils changed. I got the code P0722 and P0721, and sometimes also P0894 together with a limp so the transmission refuse to shift up over 2nd or 3 rd gear.
The thing is, this only happens when the gearbox is cold. After some 20 min driving, it runs like new, with smooth shifting and no erratic behaviour whatsoever. It summer here right now, so no extreme cold.
I read that those codes can come due to a low oil level (and in my opinion also from to thick oil as it gets when not changed properly, so in the name of science, before I ofcourse change all oils and filter, including the converter(!), I will first pump in some deciliters of oil to see if its curing the problem.
Im also thinking that if the fluids are shared, a low level in a 4-matic, might be giving more issues like mine, than in a RWD car.
And if not, well, then I guess its time for the sensors themselves and possibly the TCM.. If not only the old oil..
I think Ill get a pump fitting in a can, looks very convenient!
Regards from Sweden! /Magnus
Excellent video. Many thanks for you sharing...God bless.
ОтветитьHi Drew! I'm about to do a full flush soon, so this video help to consolidate some steps.
One i'm going to do, after changing to the new fluid, is to reset the transmission. It will help the TCM readjust to all this new components.
Again, thank you!
On my gl420 shifters are not working. Would it be possible to do this fluid change still? Could you make a video how could I diy fix those shifters? As usual, great video. Keep up the great work!
ОтветитьG'day Drew, Excellent series of videos mate, well done. I am currently working on my 2007 ML-280 in Scotland. Following all of your videos.
Radiator Coolant Fluid.
Rear Differential Fluid.
Front Differential Fluid.
Transfer Case Fluid.
Automatic Gearbox Fluid,
I have a question for you. On the Gearbox ATF change. I have the white Level Tube. With the RED ATF.
Some mechanics have mentioned 35 degC and others have said 45 degC.
Could you please advise...?
Thank you for your support...
Drew, do you happen to know the MB part number of that oval rubber cover @9.36 that gives you access to the bell housing/torque converter from the underside of the car?
ОтветитьBased on how much fluid you put in, and then let drain at operating temp it seems like you got 40 to 50 percent of the old fluid out…not 80 like you say.
If you have lots of time you can loosen the screws that attach the valve body to the transmission housing and let it drain overnight. I recently did this on my W205 c300 with a 722.9 transmission and it ended up needing just under 8 litres at operating temp for proper fill level. The downside is those valve body screws are also all aluminum stretch bolts so kind of a pain.
