I am drawing a picture, but I am really impressed.

in this kind of canvas panel is really hard to get a nice result, in my experience, acrylics works better on raw strained fabric, the most of difficulty reside on the speed drying time, blending it is tricky. but raw fabric retain wet and let you blend in a smooth way

I always do a light wash of acrylic paint before painting so i wont have to paint too much over to cover up the transparent parts. I think that helps. Thats what one of my old teachers told me to do.

You didn’t not prime the canvas, that is exactly why you had such a difficult time with the paints drying so fast and not being able to blend well. You also didn’t put a fresh thin layer just before beginning to paint to assist with blending and keeping paint wet longer.
Invest into a bottle of Gesso.
Your favorite brand or the brand that matches your supplies will be just fine and it will seriously change the Game for you.
Always Gesso FIRST.

Ps you can even make Gesso yourself with all dollar store ingredients !

Have you considered using gesso as a base to keep the canvas from sucking in the paint? I use it all the time before painting and it helps

Hey, there! To people who are watching this: I am not sure if anyone has told you this but with acrylics, you can definitely use just use water but my pro-tip is to just start using acrylic paint mediums. There are mediums that help slow down the drying process of the acrylic paints, Liquitex has amazing mediums! There are glaze mediums, gloss mediums, iridescent mediums, slow drying mediums. Somehow, there are more mediums for acrylic paints compared to oils I realised and they are super fun to use for different effects. When I first started acrylics years ago I never knew until later on and acrylic mediums have helped me a lot. Also- sometimes even though the canvas is sold "primed" I would suggest just adding one more thin layer of gesso to help your paint sit better on the canvas. Not only that, you can also add a second primer on your canvas using a slow drying medium, just a thin layer so that you are able to work more from the start itself. I hope this helps people who want to get into acrylic painting more. As a student who couldn't afford oil paints and their mediums, I am happy that acrylics have tons of medium options that you can use.

What’s up with Arteza? Their products aren’t being produced enough to restock anymore. No sketchbooks, no gouache, etc. I love their gouache and can’t get it any longer.
