It would be great if they launch a new playstation portable console with a catalog of all their first party games ready to be played with the ps plus subscription or the option to use our digital owned games, that could be great.

Been a PC and handheld (switch, seam deck, DS, GB device emulator) only gamer for the past 10 years and will probably never buy a console ever again but if they dropped an actual PSP successor Id buy it in a heart beat, I have a PSP and VITA but i barely touch them anymore but without a doubt have the most hours on a PSP then any other handheld Ive ever had, this would possibly get me back into their ecosystem. I don't think they need to reinvent the wheel here, they have experience w/ handhelds they just need to do what they did before and learn from the vita and portal, give the new psp exclusive like ratchet & clank, or jak and Dexter, give it good gyro and haptic with a nice screen, literally just give us the portal with an actual APU, and Bluetooth support, they know what they're doing and were just testing the water with the portal.

yep your probably right and its gona cost more then 500$ and the anniversary maybe close to 1000$ this seems to be sony new price tag now look at the ps plus 150$ the dont really care about the consumer the just care about that green that goes into there pocket people are right now paying almost 1000$ for the pro and some are paying like 900$ that is insane

I think an issue they might run into is value. They have to price it just right in between a ps5 and a portal now.

I hope Sony uses the same OS as the Steam Deck (or Bazzite), even if it's not using Steam itself. We don't need another locked-down, proprietary handheld that just plays games. We need handheld PCs with a UI that fits the form factor

honestly if sony made a new handheld it should run ps1, ps2 and ps3 games. that would sell like crazy. having all the sly cooper games or jak and dexter on the go would be insane

The psp was revelatory for me - same as you, the web at my fingertips as a kid!! I had the Vita as well but was unimpressed with the game catalogue and sold it. The device itself was second to none and is still moded today for retro emulation. Now I play more on my Ally than my much more powerful desktop - handheld is the future and the future is now!

It will be 400 bucks but storage will be 1500 bucks. I still think that’s what killed the vita.

My 10yr old son wants a PC. Not happening just yet!! Lol!! We're both console players and im just now finding out these hanheld pc's. I know ive been under a rock somewhere. Lol! Which handheld would be best with a dock so my 10yr old son can play on his tv?? Ive watched so many vids and not sure which one to buy.

Making a handheld is waste of time if Sony cant fix their business models happening with PlayStation as a brand.

I’d be really interested to see how they would link it to your PS5. Could I play games I already bought? Or so I have to specifically buy the games again to play on the handheld?

If you say I can play games I already how, are they streamed or can they be downloaded? If they can be downloaded, for disc users, how would they keep track of if we still have the game or not? Seems like they’d make it a buy a game for the system and the handheld, but the save might be in the cloud, that we can push from device to device.

Sony abandoned the vita, and more recently seemed to have abandoned psvr2 (at least with first party games) so there’s no way I’m buying anything else from them that isn’t a ps6 👎

Honestly, as of late I have been completely blown away by my portal. After the update a week ago or so adding cloud streaming and improving remote play. I honestly think if they could just expand cloud streaming on the device to cover any games in your library when you already have a winner right there

that thing won best gadget of 2022? And sure, more options for gamers are better but then It's fine to have a single launcher for PC? I'm probably on the 10% of people that still buys games on GoG because I can still own them digitally, I don't lways want to play on Steam...

Perhaps the Xbox series s should have been a handheld, that way it would justify the downgraded specs and could have been a companion to the series x instead of one or the other.

New psp . Xbox handheld . New deck . Asus , msi , lenovo an all the other chinese brands handhelds . switch 2 . Android phones getting powerful enough to run native console games or emulate windows games .....

I'm a Gen x gamer and I just bought a OneXplayer X1 AMD edition 11"handheld. I'm so pumped to get this handheld and start enjoying it. I have a pretty good gaming rig but I get a feeling I'm going to be using the handhelds a lot more often. Plus the big screen and helps with my 54-year-old eyes.

Loved my Vita. But I migrated to nintendo for my handheld needs. The switch is exactly what i want my handheld experience to be. Not that there aren't opportunities for improvement. Can sony get me back for their handheld. It depends. I'm happy for more competition in the handheld market.

I just want a handheld that's small enough to fit in my pocket and handles GameCube and PS2 emulation extremely well. I love my Vita, but it can't properly handle the entire SNES or GBA library. Tho, it is an absolute beast for Sega MD (Genesis) and TG-16. It's been over 12 years. It's time for Sony to bring the next handheld. Hopefully it won't be as big as the Switch.

I think a Sony handheld that plays the existing library of games in the PlayStation ecosystem is a great! I have a sizeable library and a handheld to play those games would be great. I hope it’s simple and just works great. I’m not sure I want them to do anything “extra”, I’d prefer just a solid PlayStation handheld for my games library.

The Vita was probably the nicest handheld console I think has ever been made, with the Gameboy Advance SP in second place.

Re: The Sony Handheld - meh. The only game i want on the playstation right now is gran turismo 7. I wouldn't wanna play it on controller either, so I literally have no reason to buy it. I kinda have my doubts they'll do anything particularly revolutionary that would make me buy it. I've got good memories with the PSP tho. I currently don't have any any handhelds, but if I were to pick the steamdeck is the way to go. Having my steam library portable with me anywhere I go sounds more worth the money.
