Logistical problems defeated the Germans like they did Napoleon’s Army. Europe is small, but Russia is LARGE! Western Europe had plenty of railroad tracks and roads, making their defeat comparatively easy for Germany. Russia lacked enough rail and road networks to properly supply the millions of German and allied soldiers.

It's hard to believe that the situation changed so drastically after this with the German army on the run.
