Surely they can't expect me to root for someone called Zephyr?
Ответитьit is crazy how many of the original 'video nasties' would be considered on the milder end of the '15' tag today (in their uncut form)
ОтветитьLove mark’s t-shirt
ОтветитьI think you meant The Shallows, not Open Water :)
ОтветитьJust as a note only slightly related to film. Tigers are the one animal that is fully documented over many instances and years to seek vengeance, not only against humans, but crocodiles.
ОтветитьWhat was Open Water? I remember a Bleak Lovely vs shark film called The Shallows.
ОтветитьSmall correction, the film you described as Open Water is The Shallows, Open Water is about the two divers who get stranded. Both decent enough films, IMO.
ОтветитьI saw this as the Scream Unseen presentation at Bath Odeon on Monday. When the title came on the screen it was greeted with several whoops of joy from the audience. I must admit I was hoping for "Together" so I was a little disappointed! Dangerous Animals was good but not great. Mark - please, please review Final Destination: Bloodlines. I have been a horror fan for 50 years and this went straight into my top 10 of all time. A masterpiece.
ОтветитьHe forget to mention the ridiculous Sharknado movies.
ОтветитьI remember the Orca movie in the video shop when i was a kid. Didnt fall for it though thankfully
ОтветитьI'll give it a miss
ОтветитьTHE SHALLOWS was Blake Lively attacked by a great white shark OPEN WATER - two scuba divers accidentally stranded in shark infested waters after their tour boat has left.
ОтветитьHey Mark, you meant The Shallows and not Open Water as the Blake Lively shark movie… 👍
ОтветитьOrca was kinda sad and disturbing
ОтветитьSome of the shark movies Mark mentioned at the beginning were quite stupid. However Open Water, The Shallows and The Reef were great shark movies. Believable rather than silly. I really liked Orca as well, although I know it had bad reviews.
ОтветитьI can't believe he didn't mention 'Sharknado'!! (Actually, I can).
ОтветитьThe tooth fairy is in Manhunter, not Silence of the Lambs.
ОтветитьTooth Fairy is from Red Dragon…
ОтветитьNice shirt Mark
ОтветитьClicked for the review, stayed for the Lemonhead's t-shirt
ОтветитьInteresting re: certs, i love how Mark often consults and includes the BBFFC ratings. Is the BBFC, or indeed, are audiences becoming more permissive?
ОтветитьJay Cortney, the Dollar Store Steve Gutenberg.
ОтветитьI did think that about the certificate and the thumb moment, but actually you don't really see it in detail, it's more the suggestion, but it probably should be a 18 because of the opening bit.
ОтветитьI love that Sean Byrne shows up once a decade to provide a wonderfully demented and fun horror film. I don't expect to see another film from him until the 2030's, and I hope he continues the tradition.
ОтветитьForgot Finding Nemo
ОтветитьAlso The Beast, which had a giant squid that swims backwards and roars.
ОтветитьAlso, Under Paris 🦈 🕍
ОтветитьOpen Water with Blake Lively???
ОтветитьTooth fairy from Silence of the lambs? Either you mean Red Dragon or Buffalo Bill?
ОтветитьNo mention of Under Paris
ОтветитьAlso saw this at a secret Screaming at Cineworld last week... absolutely nail-biting thriller! Really enjoyed it!
I didn't see this as a shark movie though - it's a disturbing serial killer movie, the sharks are just a small part of it really. I didn't once think of Jaws/Piranha ect. The lead actors in this were excellent :)
Sharknado
Ответить"15 year olds don't know they're born" - YES. I've been thinking this (well, maybe not quite in that way, but the basic sentiment is still there) for the last 4yrs. I remember seeing the equally 15-rated The Suicide Squad and The Northman and being shocked that they weren't 18s. Same with Clown in a Cornfield a few days ago. All three would absolutely have been 18s 15-20yrs ago.
ОтветитьSo, they didn't give this film the "thumbs up", then...Ironically.
ОтветитьForgot Free Willy
Ответитьdidnt like this one gents repeats itself way to much , she escapes then catches her escapes catches her all it is way through sharks 2 mins in it
ОтветитьJust saw it. Entertaining twists, but Kermode's right, it was horrible for the sake of it and you may need a bridge to suspend your disbelief. They could easily have cut 20 minutes too - felt quite baggy.
ОтветитьHe also made The Loved Ones, which was great.
ОтветитьThe most 4/10 film I’ve ever watched. Expected a lot more. Also … I thought this was meant to be brutal? It’s very tame
ОтветитьHe sounds like big Ange Postagogalou!
Ответить😢I impressive film, not predictable like so many..
ОтветитьI watched this today with a friend, and it is really good - definitely got a nasty edge to it. that being said, as we walked into the film I said to my friend that, given the premise, this film can literally end only one way. And it did! That being said, the journey getting there was great, if super sinister (my tastes are usually more, campy 80s horror, but this was still good!).
ОтветитьHow could he list shark films without adding Shark Night 3D, where you also have people filming people being eaten by sharks…
ОтветитьIt’s really not that gory at all though. There’s a couple of scenes of the outcomes of a shark attack, but you don’t see anything really when the attacks are actually happening. Indeed, the first one is over very very quickly and you don’t see anything at all. It’s not torture porn in the slightest - it’s tense and there’s violence but the thumb is the worst bit!
ОтветитьA gripping film. Well acted, tense and some great filming.
ОтветитьSaw meets Jaws.
ОтветитьSaw it. Loved it! I wanted more blood and kills though
ОтветитьThis is actually one of my most anticipated movies of the year, loved Sean Byrnes prior works The loved ones and The Devils Candy so I'll being see it soon as I can, I think Mark forgets what a "horror" movie is
Ответить
