Will you do a history of Istar video at some point? Shadow of the Dragon Queen mentions Istar being a magically advanced society. That the Kingpriest used mages to create what amounted to magical technology in Onyari, which I don't think is accurate.
ОтветитьThanks so much for these man. They're really great.
ОтветитьAlso, yeah, what's up Soth you slacker.
ОтветитьGreat vid as always! This made me think of an interesting question - Dragonlance is a setting where most, if not all, people continue their existence after they die. Where do you think the Kingpriest went in the Afterlife? You can make a case for the abyss but I could argue he had enough good deeds earlier in his life to keep him out of that place, and he was already punished by having a mountain dropped on him. Would Paladine have mercy on him in the Afterlife? Tough one, right? Interested to get your thoughts, cheers!
ОтветитьI dont remember him being called lightbringer. Lucifer the Kingpriest of Istar
ОтветитьExcellent content as always.
ОтветитьLight and Darkness -two forces that, in their purest form, are inimical to mortal life.
Still, I'd love to see what would happen if the Neutral pillar ever was to gain supremacy. Would Light and Darkness join forces against it?
The King Priest trilogy is easily one of the best series of any fantasy books. I dare say its better than Chronicles.
ОтветитьVillains like the Kingpriest or Dolores Umbridge--who think they are the heroes--are always the best bad guys. Great job as always.
ОтветитьThe King Priest is one of the best examples of power corrupts all it took was I’m doing this for the greater good or I’m doing this for the safety of my people sure he had good intentions until his paranoia drove him mad.
ОтветитьWonder of anyone ever played an evil party during the pre-cataclysm era.. by doing evil they should be balancing the world so trying to be Heroes that would save the world from the cataclysm It self..
Ответитьplot armor says no. but he had 32 chances to stop and did not.
ОтветитьI think it's interesting that the King-priest's actions coincide with mechanics for a level 20 cleric. At level 10 they get an ability called Divine Intervention. "Describe the assistance you seek and roll percentile dice, if the roll is lower than the cleric's level, your deity intervenes." It goes on to say, "at 20th level, your call for intervention succeeds automatically, no roll required." Imagine a 20th level cleric, head of the biggest religion on Krynn with a Wish spell every 7 days on top of everything else he can do.
DM: Okay, glad everyone can make it today. Let's start off. All of you just finished a long rest, it's morning following last week's campaign finish. What do you do?
Player: Beldinas issues a proclamation to send all of my followers to slay every humanoid of evil alignment on Krynn. On my next turn, I'll use Divine Intervention to bring a rain on the planet for 40 days that does acid damage to every evil creature on the planet. I'm 20th level, so there's no roll.
DM: /sigh. Okay, today's session is over. I need to spend a week figuring out the mechanics of this request as well as wonder why I even DM at all. Epic level campaigns are so broken...
Thank you for watching today's Dragonlance Setting episode. What do you think about the Kingpriest of Istar? Would history be different if Cathan was the Kingpriest? Leave a comment below!
