Superman 64 - Caravan Of Garbage (sort of)

Adventures of Superman, or Superman 64 really does deserve the title of one of the worst games of all time. It's like everything that could go wrong with a 3D game did go wrong. The only good part was the 'three doors down' reference. That's it. It's weird how reluctant DC/ WB interactive is at making a good Superman game. meanwhile there are a lot of good Batman games.

Just wanted to say I beat this game (after owning it since launch lol) for the first time this year. It was insane but it's actually pretty great once you get into it.

This was actually one of the first games I played as a kid, and yeah, it’s still shitty when you’re 4 and love Superman

As good Superman games go, you can never go wrong with the lego open world games in which you play as him, like DC Super Villains (though Metropolis ironically is just a couple of blocks big in that one).

Fun Fact: Every action Superman does in the game has to be approved by DC with proof of Superman performing the action in the comics or TV.
For example, Superman flying underwater… DC asked for a panel of Superman swimming and it took weeks for the devs to find the image.

Then for fighting in Metropolis and destroying shite, DC says “nah mate, you can’t, that will affect the legacy of Superman”. (even though DC was told that it’s a virtual Metropolis)

In one of the LEGO Batman games, when you played as superman, his theme would play every time you flew. It was the greatest video game version of Superman to have ever been created

Gravity Rush 1 and 2 are more or less Superman games, If you squint. If Clark was a cute blond chick with a magic space cat sidekick, and if Metropolis was built on ether a series of floating Islands and/or bolted to the side of an enormous pillar.

I gotta hand it to this version of Lex Luthor: he made an unparalleled weapon of torture.

So damn glad I trusted the reviews on this steaming pile. Of course, with each N64 game costing $60+ in real 1990's dollars, you had to be pretty careful what you bought on that system. Ogre Battle 64 !!

Flying through giant rings in the sky was always the best part of the Superman comics

The caravans are funnier when they’re recapping the plot and joking about it, like the rat pack films. This would also make these gameplays entertaining because watching him play is quite dull

I actually enjoyed Superman Returns on the PS2. Not a perfect game, but fun enough as a kid

Actually the reason it's like this is because it was made as a brawler but just before release DC told them Superman wasn't allowed to beat people up so they turned the first tutorial level into the entire game lol

It probably would have sucked anyway but in their defense it isn't the game they were making

Not gonna lie- was kinda hanging out for them trying multiplayer, liking it more than they wanted to admit, then declaring the whole game a hidden treasure after all. What a twist!

They did make a Superman game that’s exactly like Undefeated. It’s the Superman Returns game for PS2

I don't know if this was taken into account making this game, but in Superman: TAS, Supes was considerably underpowered.

Undefeated reminded me of that Matrix Unreal 5 Demo that came out on PS5 a few years ago. You could fly around the city like you were Superman ooorrr... you could just jack someone's car and drive around instead.

I don't think the demo is available anymore, unless you already downloaded it once.

Superman being knocked unconscious from an explosion slightly bigger than his body made me laugh more than it should

The way you stop the bombs is by using your freeze breath. I remember wanting this game so badly when I was a kid; it got delayed so I got the walkthrough guide book for Christmas instead. When I finally did get the game, it was so bad. Where the guide book says the game ends is not where it ends at all. It took forever to figure out how to complete it and then it just unceremoniously ends.

I played the hell out of this game because I love superman.

I worked at blockbuster and one time i got hurt on the clock climbing a ladder in a most hilarious fashion when i went to them for compensation they went bankrupt and disappeared from human history true story 😢

Just because it's better than Superman 64 does not make Superman Returns a good game. That one was still trash.

Slight correction on the lore of this shitty game, the reason it takes place in a virtual world is because DC didnt want Superman to beat up "real people" and the virtual world was a compromise. The entire development of this game sounded like an odyssey.
