As a German i have to correct you. The CDU used to be a conservative party, but especially during the last 10 years they have become a green socialist party, whereas the Afd is now a real conservative party. They stay for the same points as the CDU years ago. But as mire n more germans are fed up with migration , terrorists and murderers from the middle east, Afghanistan n Africa, besides the impact on education, environment, health and pension system, social welfare system etc. they vote for the Afd. This devolopmwnt endangers the position of power of the other clowns. So they take out the "Nazi-Keule" a "Keule"" can be compared to a baseball club. One hit and you are done. So they call all politicians of the AfD and their voter nzs. Olaf Scholz called them "fallen angels", president Steinmeier called them rats and the h0rrible Agnes Strack-Zimmermann who is a military lobbyist called AfD voters as well in a disrespectful way.

I live in New Zealand, and the way Freie Demokraten lost was the same as how our NZ First Party (essentially the patriots, anti-immigration centrist party) lost after forming a coalition with Labour and Green. However, they made a massive comeback by becoming similar to AfD or Reform UK.

Only to turn against the young vote by supporting even stronger pandemic management, because they favor presumed stability over liberty. Their old vote is not voting for small state liberalism, while it's the only way to attract the young vote. It's a problem any liberal party has.

The Greens are an outlet of the vastly successful ecologist movement, which is why they won't loose many votes. People are voting for clean air, clean water, clean energy, clean farming, clean whatever. They want a clean war with a clean victory for Ukraine. And clean open borders. Of course, everything has to be healthy, too. This naturalism resounds well with young voters.

BSW is a person cult grown out of the Left, with 90% of the personnell following. It's stance against open borders is a reflection on the fact that is leads to a run down of the welfare state. They are fiercely pro-Russia.

While the left is pretty much anti-war, anti-weapons, anti-everything party. The county I live in builds a new hospital, the left is against it because there is an old one. They are not open-border but anti-border. I rate them as anarchists. They are also anti-imperialist and anti-zionist, which is why 29% of the muslim vote went with them.

AfD more or less is a protest vote. People voting them don't know and don't agree with conservatism or free-market economics. They als have libertarian small state ideas, and some only want the old republic back. I guess, they would be much more protectionist and deep state once in office, to protect the industrial core, etc.They have some problematic personnell in their ranks, which is basically the reason why they are surveyed by the domestic intelligence agency, the Verfassungsschutz ( = constitution protection agency).

The Council of Europe still exists, with institutions seperate from the EU. The EU is a successor to the European Community.
