Do you outwinter the fall calves too. Im in NY and anything born in July or after has a tough time with winter.

How did you seal your new tank with your water supply coming in the bottom of it?

I’m pretty sure Greg said awhile back that the fall calvers were late spring calves the year before and decided kick them back to the fall so the calving season isn’t so long. The 5 wires are hot ground hot ground hot.

Greg could you explain the gravity feed from the pond? I’m needing to do that on my place.

Buckeyes can kill 'em too. My neighbor lost one-but he has a conventional setup where they have crap pastures and bales in rings all winter long. I understand why his animals CRAVE something beside hay to eat. I haven't killed all my buckeyes, but he stuck a saw in every one he could find. No cutting of oaks.

5 wires, 3 hot and 2 grounds. Ok. Isn't the lowest wire always a ground? Then H H G H going up? What is the arrangement? I'm planning a 5 wire here with extra ground rods in the swampy side for better grounding in dry conditions.

The bucks "bachelor group" up in the Fall just before their testosterone makes them all hate each other and start fighting and chasing does. They don't "hang out" together once the rut really kicks in, it's every buck for himself and they'll kill each other fighting over does if necessary. I've seen as many as eight bucks in bachelor groups, and one spectacular one-once, in a large group. They'll do some sparring and horse-play as well, before the groups break up for "dating". I got video of fawns running and mock fighting just a few weeks ago. They were nuts.

I'm glad y'all are asking Greg about the "Fall Calving" because he had me convinced that Spring was the only natural time to calve, and thus did it that way. Then somewhere these "fall calvers" join the herd and I've yet to hear any explanation as to why or wherefore GJ has fall calvers. Perhaps he discussed it all on one of those videos with shoddy audio such that I couldn't hear it. Did ANYONE anywhere hear Greg say how these fall calvers came to be in his herd? I'm guessing these cows came from another herd somewhere, but have never found out. Thanks.

21 days vs 45 days 🤔. Will you keep these cows on fall calving or switch them to spring?

You are down south enough to get away with fall calving but I wouldn't try it up in Michigan,Minn. or Canada. Just the fact that the grass hasn't got the quality to make the milk the best and that is why your spring calves do so much better than the fall ones.

What is your reason for doing fall calving and not just calving everyone in the spring?
