The Atra-Hasis Epic is an 18th-century BC Akkadian epic. It is named after its protagonist, Atrahasis, which means 'exceedingly wise'. The epic includes both a creation myth and one of three surviving Babylonian flood myths. It is the fullest Mesopotamian account of the Great Flood, with Atrahasis in the role of Noah. The epic tells how the gods planned to destroy humankind by flooding the earth.
