This was an interesting listening, of course I have to sit with its message over the next few days and ponder my own conclusions. However, I'd be prone to disagree with both of them that if death didnt exist, that nobody would ever get anything done (without the threat of it coming). I think its probably the opposite, that we would do too much of everything without the threat of an ending, Maybe the answer is back to square one, the world already exists with those that believe one or the other philosophy already.

BJ Miller is the man. He was great on Tim Ferriss' podcast. I wish he was on more.

Hello Ms Oprah, I've been a nurse for 25 years and have been privileged to witness many deaths and can honestly say I have never seen a bad death. The body does death very well. No drama. The patient just slips away. If I'm by myself with the patient I whisper the act of contrition in their ear and ask God to take care and hold on to the patients spirit. Religion does not matter i just do it anyway. I believe when we die God will ask us "How did you love?" and when it comes to someones last breath I can say I did it with my whole heart. It is a privilege to be present for someones last breath. It has always filled me with a feeling of love .

We forget how precious life is until we hear a story like Paul's.  Heartbreaking but I'm glad it was told.  People, love hard and steadfast before your breath becomes air.

i'm a muslim and i believe in allah and in life after death but i just love his words about living your day like it's your last and doing your best to love and be loved and the most important thin is to be able to forgive and just move on and you know what i believe that death is just a start for another shapter in our lives
we've just to be ready and take it with an open heart

The rich will never have fulfillment until they learn to balance and give. Taking more than what you need has a curse. We are given so we can give. But so many attribute kindness as a weakness.

So insightful! Thank you, BJ and Oprah!! I graduated from a U.S. college; that's when I got to come across with the Oprah Show! Even after coming back to Japan, I spend hours a week watching you, Oprah. There is NOBODY like you here in Japan, Oprah.

7 years later and still wonderful to watch. Dr. Miller is a beautiful human being. Thank you for shading a light on death.
