This is idiocy. Russia will be decades trying to regenerate their forces. Nearly 2 million losses to casualties and men who have fled the country. Their entire budget won't be able to match the new European defense spending. Unless Russia decides to hunk nuclear weapons at Europe there is no chance they could win a confrontation. Of course, it's not winning. The French and UK have sufficient weapons to devastate Russia in a nuclear exchange. As severely as Russia can the rest of Europe? No, not even close. Here is the thing, a minor tactical use of nukes, might not prompt a nuclear exchange. Widespread tactical use would provoke strategic use of nukes by Europe.


All of this ignores the United States. Will the US abandon Europe? Probably not. MAYBE if it started before Trump left office. Trump is fed up with Putin and the US people still support the alliance with Europe. Even if the US decided not to commit ground forces. The US Navy and air power would certainly be committed. With that, the war would be over in matter of months.

The only way this war doesn't end with the absolute destruction of the Russian (and likely Belurussian) militaries, is if China for some insane reason decides to join the war. China would have to think that Europe and the US would abandon Taiwan, South Korea and possibly even Japan. China would much prefer to sell things to Europe than join Putin in a suicidal war. Even a Russia, China, North Korea axis for World War III, the same thing that happened in WW2 would occur. Choke out their economies. Annihilate their navies and squeeze them until they break.
