Instagram has ruined Bali.They don't care about any of this. Ubud to Padangbai.

Today I travel from Ubud to Padangbai after taking a walk around the streets for one last time.

While walking through Ubud in the morning I come across a couple posing for what appears to be an Instagram video which reminds me of an article I read some time ago about whether people coming to Bali for nothing more than an Instagram shot are ruining the island.

My breakfast on the roadside kerb is satay and I’m surprised at how hot the sambal is in comparison to the peanut sauce. I ask the young couple who own the small satay warung about their business, start time, how long they’ve been running it…

I then have to find a driver on the street to take me from Ubud to Padangbai which sees me enter into negotiations with Kadek, and after settling on a price we head off immediately.

On our journey I ask Kadek about his life, family, and business in Ubud and find he’s quite a savvy guy. During our trip we pass a woman who had fallen from her motorcycle which was a reminder as to how dangerous the roads are here in Indonesia.

Arriving in Padangbai I give you a brief tour of my room and the view from the balcony of Harmony guesthouse.
