The worst things to see is animals like chimps in labs connected to wires and tubes not able to move but still alive

When I was young I visited zoos once in a while, but as I got old now 77, I felt guilty to visit zoos and stopped visiting them. Imagine you are in a cage for life and people visit you daily!!

As a studying zookeeper myself, i’d agree that every zoo is great and not everything they try to do is a success. But I’ve been to a lot of zoos, and I’ve seen what they do; just because something doesn’t always work doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try at all.

The best species for zoos are docile prey animals like guinea pigs. They don’t need a lot of space and are safe from predators in captivity

It depends on the zoo , if the zoo animals are in a very natural habitat and the animals are happy then its a good zoo. If the animals are locked up in cages with no food or water then it’s a bad zoo. But this actually having some problems, a lot of zoos in Indonesia and India make animals in cages and elephant soccer games which is entertaining but the animals get really stressed out and most zoos even having guests abuse animals. so yeah

Zoos that are for profit should be closed down. Zoos that are educational should provide a healthy natural habitat for the animals. Zoos are not all bad if they are educational or used to protect endangered animals.

It’s scary how closely zoo animal behaviors mirror many of those we see in humans in developed countries. Depression, anxiety, self harm, sedentary lifestyle etc. perhaps we stumbled upon a formula for stamping out fulfillment while increasing profits that works across species.

All zoos should be banned and illegal. They should instead be replaced by sanctuaries where the animals are rescued instead of captured and live in a natural habitat instead of a cage.

Zoos should not be removed, but they should be regulated through legislation and be evaluated regularly for the health and mental well-being of animals.

Climate change is due to a higher human population than there’s ever been..change my mind. The population is taking up more land,both horizontal and vertical,taking more resources,farmland and habitats. Stop paving the earth,stop putting apex predators in captivity and stop teaching children that living in concrete jungles and having a cool instagram or TikTok is a fulfilling life.

Personally I think it’s just so sad to see a wild animal behind bars. If we were to be in the animals position, it’s basically a prison but u have to deal with snapping lights of cameras and humans screaming every 2 seconds. When I was little I thought nothing of zoos but now I absolutely HATE them. None of us will feel what it’s like to be in a cage ur whole life 😞

Just the possability of saving a species with a reserve population alone is good enough to have zoo's

I'm not sure how some animals feel about captivity, if anything, but orcas I suspect understand the concepts of freedom and slavery and probably see themselves this way at SeaWorld.
