I love this series but the hilarious thing about this, and Parker himself acknowledges this is while the discovery channel make out Parker et all are big fish in the Klondike, the operations next to them are operating and producing at several orders of magnitude bigger scale!

He’s company is worth well over that much which means he can leverage what ever his assets are worth plus his liquid cash reserve. He handed him a check from a bank he got financing from. Don’t even think for a second he gave dean ANY of his own money. He’s paying interest and principal on a loan and if you think about it he made 7000 ounces close to 15 million just last season His claim and new wash plant is paid for. Now he’s got 7 years to make over 100 million dollars on the low end after expenses. This guy created an empire and doesn’t even know it yet. His company will worth 200 million in the next 10 years.

Meh never liked spoiled Parker. It’s easy to grow a huge business when you have a grandpa give you 100 grand to get started and mining someone else’s proven land to start (Tony). No offense to him but I have more respect for Tony who did it himself and with little.

I know I'm late to the party, but I'm cheap, not inclined to pay for many subscriptions each month. This chipped episode was cool to see. There's always some dramatic licensing thrown in, but I believe this one. $15 million is a monster sum in the minds of nearly everyone. Even for Mr Schnabel, handing that cheque over would have been scary. I'm glad to hear it's working out for him and his team.

The difference is that this is not a boat or a plain it's land that's been proven to hold gold. The true question is not he he can afford it, but will he regret passing up on this offer.

"I'm going to get my toothbrush and leave." Now that's a scripted line.
Absolutely no-one does a deal at this scale so quickly. The attorneys, CPAs, et al are in the soup.
There would be financing involved, too. NO WAY can Parker justify stumping up 100% of the original asking price.
Things just don't roll that way.
For tax reasons, alone, the seller is going to demand a back-end arrangement.

If I was advising Parker I'd be getting him to angle a deal of something like $10m + a performance earn out. If it does better than expected then the total proceeds would be greater than $15. Less would mean less. Earn out period first 3 years upon taking over.

Easier way to think through the business decisions. 7 years for 15 mill. What's the owner pull out each year for the first 8 year? If it's not a big chunk over 2.2 mill a year then he won't make profit. The drilling samples also play a huge part to prove if there is 7 years of mining left.

That deal seems a little weird. As the land owner, I would have given other miners a chance to counter bid.
