Meet my 16 year old mentee Haley Taylor Schlitz, who was featured on Good Morning America and is headed to law school.
6 years ago I was asked to write a full-time column for @huffpost for #GirlsInSTEM. Instead of turning the offer down completely as I focused on my career in oncology research and my own brand, I decided to write a few articles for the #HuffPost on a part-time basis. I began to be contacted by all kinds of people—women, men and children who either had an interest in #STEM, a child with gifts in that area or adults wanting a career change. One young lady stood out: 11 year old Haley— a bright little shining star. She played the harp and was naturally talented in math & science: she wanted to go to medical school like her ER doctor mom, who the TV series #DocMcStuffins is named after.
Well, I became her 1:1 mentor. More like her fact-checker, essay reviewer, life coach 😊😂. I’m so thrilled to announce that she has been accepted to NINE law schools at age 16– all thanks to her parents, who so lovingly pour into her and her brother & sister. Watch the video for more on this inspirational young woman. 💜
I am in good company, too. Haley’s mentor from Carolina is Peaches Golding, Queen Elizabeth’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol:

So proud!
