Everybody yells at Jerry for being the bad guy and Wade rightfully having suspicions about him. But I think that Jerry was a nice guy but Wade didn't want to see Jerry succeed and take more of his money, and so Jerry turned evil. But even so he never meant to kill Wade or his wife, he only wanted to make sure he'll have the money. Wade was a total asshole. I was really happy with this scene.

Wade truly does symbolize America in a nutshell. A corporate stooge who thinks he can bully people because he can, but then is shocked when he gets punched in the nose. Think Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq.............

The smart thing would've been for Carl just to take the money and run, especially after he saw how much it really was.

Wade was just as greedy as Jerry. He should’ve given into their demands immediately. “A million dollars is a lot of money.” He was just as greedy as the rest. And it cost his daughter her life.
