ОтветитьYou expect to get fired soon and not have to drive to work anymore? Total cost of ownership for an EV often wins over combustion. Mini is easy to compare since it is sold as both EV and with different combustion engines.

ОтветитьThis is what electric cars should be, or closer to it anyhow. Small, short range, relatively quick charging grocery getters. Road trippin' car? No. Trucks? Hell no. The marketing around electric cars is exemplary of the issue with green energy. Its for rich white yuppies with more money than brains.

ОтветитьSee this is amazing to me- not because of what it is, but because of what it represents. This is essentially a normal ICE engine model vehicle that has been retrofit with an electric power train, without really changing much externally. Meaning, this COULD be done to existing makes and models of vehicle. Would they get good mileage? Probably not. Would they still get better mileage per $ than an ICE model? Probably Yeah. Would it stick a major middle finger to big Oil? Absolutely.

ОтветитьMy girlfriend would love one of these except for the range. 110 miles is high for an "around town" car, but low for a road trip car and she wants a road trip car.

I have the Mini Cooper SE level 2 since 2020. I have driven a lot of cars, expensive, cheap and overpriced.
I do not live in the US or in Canada, but over here it was cheaper than the other EVs.
It is by far the most fun car I have ever driven.
The interior quality is astounding, mine still feels brand new.
Range is fine, not great but I live in/near a city and don't need much. It charges in no time and it's cheap to run.
It is perfect for me and my needs but I can see it being totally useless for the majority.
However, as explained in this video, it is so freaking quick and extremely fun to drive. The way it tackles corners is insane.
thank you for telling me that this car exists, I think that the fact that no one has talked about it is because no one bought it

ОтветитьThey should be building EV's on the Countryman platform, not the Cooper. It feels like this vehicle sacrifices a lot and doesn't really give you much of anything as far as value for that price tag. As Alex said, it's got the low end Mercedes/BMW/Audi price tag with significantly less range.

ОтветитьYou had that front seat pretty far back. My sister and I grew up with our Mom having a two door MINI as the only vehicle. For a family of smaller people, it worked well - and was waaaayy more fun than a crossover : )

ОтветитьThe small battery means it doesn't weigh a ton like every other EV. It's only 1400kg and is the first EV I've driven which is actually fun to drive like Alex said. This isn't a car you buy as your main car for long distance trips but it certainly is the car you buy for your commute to work (as long as its less than 50 miles). Plus the Harman KArdon stereo in the top version is amazing.

Now I’m definitely not getting one.
We have one in US. In Green mode, in summer, it can make it to airport and back (even with AC on), that's 120 miles! Granted, I got back with 2% battery after leaving it in airport parking for 3 days, but it was, in fact, capable of more than the mileage rating. And yes, it's a lot of fun. I agree that the nav system is kind of bleh. The nav on our VW Touareg is a lot better (except for the fact that it's impossible to get a nav update!). It always seems to be too little zoom (can't see the small roads), or too much (can't see the overall pattern). We do most of our driving with the back seats down which adds a huge amount of cargo space capacity. If you're not going to use the back seats for people, you might as well just put them down and get enough cargo capacity for 1/4 sheets of plywood, right?
Also agreed on the toggle controls. Very nice.
I wish that they key fobs were distinctive enough to auto-select driver personality like on the Touareg, but they are not. You have to select the profile every time you start the car.
I love the fact that I can charge it easily in the garage from standard 240V 20A outlet in about 8 hours or less.

ОтветитьThis is by far the most fun car i have driven. - now the battery is hopeless. So i now have the new version of Fiat500 - but there are defintely some differences between the two where i miss some from the mini. - but the new mini is dissapointing. So i wont go back after a few years when it is time to let the Fiat go. I had so hoped they would have figured out to expand the battery on this model.

ОтветитьLooking back at this a year later and this is the car that sealed the deal that BMW/Mini had no clue as to what Mini was about. (The Classic Mini when it was introduced to was sold for about $15,000).
2nd BMW/Mini is a compliance car.
3 Mini is not ready to build an actual usable car instead of a rich persons jewelry purse.
