Some say the legend of Tecun Uman (Tekum Uman) is a story filtered by the Spanish. This is supposed to send a message to the remaining natives that fall was inevitable and submission to the Spanish was the only chance of survival. The mayas believed in the rebirth of the sun (the sun = god). The death of Tecun Uman is meant to show the fall of the old sun and rebirth of the new sun. Alvardo nick name means son of the sun, given to him by the first Aztecs that encountered him, due to his physical appearance.
A fallen hero is a message to the survival natives.

I am from Guatemala I grow up en Poptun Peten Mayan name, the name of my litle town meaning in Spanish bed made of rock in my school I was tough that the Maya’s was not extinct the conquers kill the riders and force religion on them in till today the mayas are a life they just migrate to other parts other country to be able to survive.

two years ago I took a DNA test and found out i have a lot of maya blood im so proud im so happy my great grandmother would say that she was native but didn't know which one because she was orphan because of the wars she looked very native American and I so desperately wanted to know im so thank full our people still live in really believe that the maya went to peru and just spread every where 😅😮😢😮😮❤❤❤❤
