I know Lacy’s Mom and little brother. So incredibly gut wrenching. I grew up in Fort Collins and I will always remember Lacy.

I was in high school at the time in Centennial HS on Laurel in Fort Collins, and Miller's murder was the talk of the school for the better part of the rest of the year. My creative writing teacher was a lawyer in FoCo and had a history with the judge of the case. Because of this, his class, myself included, went to the courthouse to watch his plea live. The courthouse was full, so I left to make way for some other people. I did not see his plea as I waited outside the courtroom. From what I understand, it got intense when Miller's father gave his impact statement referring to Claussin as "the monster." We would talk to the judge shortly afterwards as part of class that day. The judge said this was one of the most intense cases he ever took.

I haven’t thought about this in forever. I frequented the place Lacy worked and knew her in passing. I also had a friend that was good friends with Eric, and through him heard the story about the body in the car. I was deep in school at that point and it all kind if went on around me, while I stayed somewhat oblivious to the whole story. Looking back on this now, it really hurts. I used to ride my bike up and over the road where she was found and had made the ride maybe a week before she was found. Was she there at that point? It really disturbs me now. Such a scar on my group and a stain on what should have been the best years of my life. Oh well, nothing compared to what she endured. May he rot in hell.

Speaking of impersonating a police officer, you should cover the 2020 mass casuality case in Portapique, Nova Scotia, Canada. A man impersonating an RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer shot and killed 13 people.

I was the one that gave you guys the story. My next-door neighbor was her best friend that drove her home that night or she drove her home. God bless her we were in church. We were getting the emails and sure enough she was found during the Super Bowl, the infamous, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, taking off her bra it was horrible.

When I was 21 a cop got behind me on a deserted stretch of highway about 30 miles between Thomasville and Quitman, GA He didnt put his lights on, but flashed his high beams the entire 30 miles until I reached a 7-11 and pulled in to see what was wrong. He just kept on going. I know to this day I saved my own life. Thanks to an Ann Rule book I had read, where a bad cop was killing women. This is no joke. Dont stop until you reach a public place.

That whole process needs to be automated and digitized. The tech we have now can be used to verify ID on both sides. We just need to change the process which is unsafe for both thr person and cop.

I will ask the questions and ask for ID. How do we know a real ID from another. I guess the only thing u can do is call 911 at the moment if they let me. Very scary if this happens.

People have been accused of running from the police when they put the hazards on and drive slowly until they feel safe. I have seen a case where a woman did this & the officer used the tip maneuver to flip her vehicle upside down. I think that lady was also pregnant. It’s a great idea, but it can get you into a lot of trouble trying to stay safe. Idk what the answer is for that.

The history of true crime is rife with killers who impersonated police officers. One of them, Gerard Schaeffer, was a real police officer (until he was fired). Kenneth Bianci and Ted Bundy both impersonated police officers on occasion. I'm sure there are others that I'm missing. I'm glad Lacy got justice in this case. So many of them go unsolved.

No. Funny you should mention this. I was only saying to a friend a while ago, that I feel impersonating a police officer should carry a big jail sentence. Because it’s a licence to anything. And - especially- because not many people have much defence against this behaviour, because who actually knows the exact details of what a real police badge looks like. It horrifies me. Should be a few years in jail

Are you required to pull over for an unmarked police car with a flashing light. I mean you can go to Amazon and buy flashing light. So I don’t think you should be required to pull over for an unmarked police car or truck, thoughts

Recently a woman in the south got pulled over I think by a trooper. The woman was pregnant and it was at night so she slowed down put on her blinker and was going to a well-lit place at the next exit. This callus dumb cop did the pit maneuver on her and overturned her car could have killed her. She didn't stop fast enough

Whats scary is that they sell old police cars at auctions and you can order lights from Amazon or 100 other places and put them on an old cop car . I tell my wife and daughters that if they are on a road with no other cars and police lights come on behind them, to call 911 and ask them if they have law enforcement in that area and to pull to a well lit area with people

A truly sad case, it should be considered a felony to impersonate a law enforcement officer, in Canada it is a punishable offense up to five years imprisonment.
Great presentation, I think I'll peruse some of your other videos.

So many elements of these kinds of cases are lessons. Please teach your kids things like this as they get old enough to drive and be independent in the world. My daughter has been carrying mace since she was ten, she was educated on respecting fire arms at a young age, taught about meeting people in a well lit, public place, keeping her head on a swivel and walking with purpose when she’s out alone, never leaving her drink unattended at a party, not accepting a ride alone with someone she doesn’t know well, she’s been taught a few basic self defense moves, etc. It’s amazing how many parents just don’t teach and prepare their kids for the world. Every single person who’s ever been targeted and attacked is someone who thought it would never happen to them. Not saying this woman’s parents didn’t do that…these kinds of cases just remind me of how important it is to teach our kids a healthy level of caution.
