One thing you don't mention is the location of the power plant. IE coal plants are not in the middle of cities... But polluting vecials and trucks are in our lungs and bodies.

My guess is that the diesel generator is a backup, for blackouts. Shill all you want, but 43% of grid power is made burning natural gas (fracking), with “renewables” (which are unreliable, pricey and use petroleum-based plastics for manuf) and coal being about 25% each. Without more nuclear, we cannot be fossil-fuel free. Batteries only store energy, they do not create it.
Delusion leads to depression, when faced with reality. Don’t be deluded into thinking EVs actually solve problems.

so.... even if it was ran on a generator. The use of the generator is more efficient than a gas engine.

It‘s one of the bigger charging points, if not the biggest together with 40 stalls in Hilden.

Many are the same with people off grid "because they use a diesel generator in the winter when there isn't enough sunlight".
They run a diesel generator 20 days a year, so it's not worth having solar panels, powering the house the 345 days there is enough sunlight.

so, since the poster don't understand the facts, you post some propaganda to counter, right? I ask, how many acres of solar panels does it take to power all those chargers at 350kw at the same time? if coal and gas is on the way out, why is the government building thousands of miles of co2 (evil?) pipeline? how many people will die from co2 pipeline leaks in the present and future (happened in Iowa already)? why are buildings around the world banning ev's from the underground parking that the people that live in those builds pay for? how many ev's will catch fire or did catch fire from the hurricanes? why did a brand-new fire station in Germany burn down? how many battery explosions in the last 6 months? And the much bigger question, why are you ev fools bent on in enriching China (are you a communist or just a paid propagandist)?

while you look left, good old joe is starting ww3 over Ukranian oil interest of his nazi buddies over there!! don't believe, you better look it up!

I wonder how my electric usage for my EV is quantified in these energy statistics. I live in SE Pennsylvania (PECO Energy) and have added a solar system on my home that provides about 50% of the energy that I consume (including the energy I need to charge my EV). In a given month, my solar system generates about 2-3 times more energy than I put into my EV. One could argue that 100% of the energy used by my EV comes from Solar since I added it specifically to offset the additional energy usage from the EV. Do the statistics just look at the energy that I pull from the grid though? According to one source, the PECO default mix comes from 39% nuclear, 39% gas, 15% coal (so 54% Carbon total), 2% hydro, 1% wind and smaller amounts of other sources.

@Ben Sullins, you missed the most obvious point. The cost of generating electricity from a diesel gen-set is (almost always) dramatically higher than grid electricity. They're really not efficient, and diesel is much more expensive per kWh than NG, coal, wind, or sunshine. Tesla would only do that if there was some problem with the grid supply, and a long-term problem with the grid supply would preclude a given site from being a SuperCharger site. (Though as you point out, some temporary gensets may be used during setup or grid disruptions).

"To be honest, I wouldn't mind if it was powered by coal. While it's great that electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly powered by cleaner energy sources, there are still compelling reasons to use EVs. Even when charged by coal-powered electricity, EVs are generally more energy-efficient than internal combustion engines. They also eliminate tailpipe emissions, which significantly improves air quality in cities. Additionally, electric vehicles have the potential to be powered by a mix of renewable sources as the energy grid continues to transition to greener options. Over time, this means EVs will only become cleaner as the grid evolves."

I installed solar for my home level 2 charger. Charging via solar for $0.01 / kWh, via grid $0.09 / kWh, via Superchargers $$ / kWh, generally more than gas for a Prius to drive the same distance. (Equivalent of $5 to $15 per gallon gas).

even if we use 100 percent diesel and oil to generate electricity to charge EVs it will be more efficient overall because ICU is 20 percent efficient of turning fuel to movement and 80 percent to heat and unnecessary movement .
and electric motor is at least 80 percent efficient of turning fuel to electricity to movement .
i am for EV not because it is clean it is a side benefit for me .
i am for EV because it is a better tech overall performance the fastest car is EV . model S plaid
heavy transport Semi is very economical vs diesel .
cyber truck for American Ego . useless kid dream. f150 lightning and BYD shark are better trucks .
imagine a model 3 truck it will be awesome and cheap.

I have a 50A/220V generator, and one gallon of fuel can get me around 150 miles of range. (Level 3 supercharger is 250KW not 350KW]

Also, supercharger stations in remote locations may have backup generators during outages on major highways. I saw a giga charger for electric semi trucks with backup generators as they charge at megawatt levels rather than kilowatt.

The electric car transition has been purposely politicized like many other actually non-political issues to garner votes from people who never fact check such things. Like all other fake news, you have to look to the source and their probable audience which they shower with false narratives, only because that is what they want to hear, not because it has any basis in fact or reality. This is the modus operandi of the “right wing” press; making money from fake news.
