X Plane 12 Instrument Panel Too Dark Workaround

Thanks for the video Skip on this issue with X-Plane 12. I've tried a number of ways to resolve the instrument panel being unreadable but to no avail. Very disappointed X-Plane was released from Beta with this issue. I brought this issue up to them about a month ago. Given this is a beginners aircraft in learning how to fly I wouldn't recommend X-Plane 12 until this issue is resolved.

Just wanted to jump in and let you know how useful your videos were when I started taking flight simming seriously a little over a year ago. Which in turn led me to puruse my Private Pilot Certificate, that I now hold. Appreciate the work you do here! I am sure that it has blessed others as well.

Thanks for this. I really hope they fix it. I just saw a post on their forums where a member of the Laminar team said that the next update thats coming will NOT address this dark cockpit issue. That is still being worked on so we have a long wait for a fix. Its really a drag as this lighting makes the whole thing look cartoony to me. Another thing that helps with this is ReShade.

Unfortunately Laminar decided the lighting model popular in video games was the way to go and some years later have shown no urgency to address needs of pilots . Originally thier key selling point was “ a more realistic and accurate flight model and experience “ . When Microsoft re entered the arena , they pivoted to provide better sunsets , cloud lighting , puddles on the runway BUT cockpit lighting “ who cares “ - after over 12 years with x-plane I gave up on xp12 . It’s thier business and thier decision so no point in me wingeing
