Balcones blue corn true blue. Did I FINALLY find a Balcones that I like? #whiskey #bourbonhunting

I've had the much lower proof Baby Blue as a sample, and thought that it was fine. Didn't buy a bottle, though.

My son bought a bottle of the regular Balcones and shared it. The neck pour was super funky, like the minimum 2 years of aging to be called a bourbon might be too long for some parts of Texas. After several drinks from it over a few weeks, I still thought it was funky but was getting used to it, and it got to OK for me but not a rebuy. For me, my favorite budget bottle for taste is the 100 proof Cooper's Craft, but I get the best after effects from the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, even though the taste does not blow my socks off.

I had a TW pick of Balcones rye finished in European Oak at cask strength. It was very funky and earthy, almost scotch like.
