Meg’s blue dress from Little Women 1994. It doesn’t have the “wow” factor that a lot of this series does, but it adds a lot to her character and the March family in general (we see it later in the movie handed down to Amy)

Wow, Donkeyskin looks like a visual feast! There's a short story I really like, "The Color Master" by Aimee Bender, about the people in the fairy tale who made the dresses.
The first blue dress that came to mind for me was Maria's in The Sound of Music as she listens to the Captain sing "Edelweiss". No wonder the Baroness looks for it when trying to "help" her dress for dinner, or that she's wearing it again during the romantic duet. It's modest, reflecting her status as a governess and would-be nun, but still formal and flattering, and the pale color and flowy sleeves reflect her sweet, guileless, free-spirited personality.

The blue dress in Cinderella was made from a material lighter then air so it would float up when she twirled. I dont remember the name of the material but its around $50 a yard

I've never seen the movie To Catch a Thief but I have had this blue dress worn by Grace Kelly saved on my pinterest for like 10 years. I really thought it was going to be on this list. It tops every other dress for me.
And for the purple, Morgana from Merlin has a really good one, I mean she has couple of them but this one had a hood with grey on the inside. It had pretty details on front and it flowed so well when she walked

All some of my favorites!

The two that come immediately to mind out of live action are the periwinkle dress from French Kiss and the blue gown in Stardust. Animated are Ariel’s 2 blue dresses and the dresses in Anastasia

One of my actual faves is from The Exorcist. Not the nightgown, although that is iconic, but the mom’s fancy dress (in the scene where Reagan pees on the floor). The contrast between the sparkly top and the plain skirt is so good. The silhouette reminds me of a 90s Barbie. 💕
