The way I did not expect the Ruby / Jodi lore to get THIS much weirder. Oh boyyy

Ruby was already abusive and then Jodi came in as a true predator. All under the mask of Jesus

My mom went through something like this not as evil but she left our family for a guy who claimed that the can "heal cancer with his hands". She was so mean, defensive and just soo unhappy but unable to do something about it. She couldn't take criticism, she wouldn't listen and she did everything in her power to ruin the life she build believing it would bring her peace. That was 10 years ago. She broke up with the guy I think 5 years ago (He was bipolar and in my opinion definitely narcissistic) . She is coming back to herself. I am very proud of her even though I think she will never be her old version. Still I think she is a good person who because of her own unresolved trauma became so lost in herself and what she believed to be true. Honestly I think it can happen to any of us. It taught me to be cautious about my own thoughts. Sometimes you will get lost in them because you picked the wrong direction while you had good intentions. Always be open to be the fool guys. Hoped that makes sense.

I actually understand this sort of religious psychological issue on some personal level, although i am not a professional at all and this is from observation. I think it's a narcissistic grandeur that gives people purpose and allows the abusers ruby in this situation control and satisfaction. It appears to me she was like this long before she met her husband with the list she made etc. Kevin is still not a good person to me because he put his purpose and chosen one idealogy above his children. I come from the rural religious south and have dealt with personally and with others similar issues on different scales. This seems like one of the worst outcomes for the religious person(s) with mental health issues or illness Most of us go to therapy and deal with the religious trauma and realize the delusional narcissistic narrative our brains created to try to give us a meaning

I really hate the way the dad frames himself in this. If the kids wanna forgive him, that's none of my business but I really hope he's apologized to the children for abandoning them

In terms of her possession, if it's a mental health issues then why are you taking advice from her. If she's actually possessed why are taking her advice. If acting and basically screwing them they shouldn't be taking her advice.

I grew up Christian, but we were never like this! My parents gave us a choice to go to church and if we wanted to go it would be when we had our license so we could choose if we wanted to go, they never made me or my sister get baptized and if and when I have children of my own I would never make then if they do not want to be! I am so thankful that I grew up in a Christian household where yes, there were crosses in the house and Bibles, but it was always me and my sister that chose to be involved with God! It is so refreshing to here you state your thoughts and opinions. Seeing how others are having to grow up like makes me thankful for the interment I grew up in!

I grew up Mormon, and I absolutely did not believe in exorcism. I think these people made their own little cult using Mormonism as a cover (very similar to the Lori Vallow/Chad Daybell group).

I don't think Ruby has access to genuine introspection cause she seems... mentally unwell... I don't want to speculate on anything specific but my pattern recognition alarm bells are going off.

I don't know about the other kids, but Sheri calls her bio parents by their first names or "mother" and "father" every now and then, because after she was disowned the lady who saw her get disowned non-legally adopted her. So she calls her and her husband "mom" and "dad" now. That's all in Sheri's book "the house of my mother".

Kevin really is upsetting to listen to speak. This person sounds so weak. Like what the hell was going in his mind at all? Ruby is was projecting so so much. Everyone was lustful, everyone was causing chaos. The mirror within her words is just frustrating.

religious abuse in marriage "counselling" is honestly really widespread more than we probably give credit for. my cousin had this happen to him last year, his wife's family finally got him going to her family's church and then he was never godly enough until she left with their 6 kids one day and her parents and church have iced him out.

They probably don't believe in modern doctors as much as a spiritual therapist when your this god brained. So to be fair the father probably thought they were already seeking help through Jodi and god. Where else could he turn, he was brainwashed as a child into religion and again as an adult into the Judi cult.

The way my jaw dropped in the first few minutes!! Oh my gosh. It definitely seemed like the Dad had no idea truly how BAD things got. How absolutely terrifying for the children...

Thank god this was discovered before it turned into a full blown cult where people actually died
