I'm building a bathroom vanity top that will be sealed with epoxy, does that require (or should I) that I add a coating like Osmo or Rubio? I'm thinking you use that to seal the exposed wood more so than for the epoxy itself...but I don't know anything about this, thus the question.

Thanks for this video. Very very helpful for someone who’s experienced in woodworking, but not finishing epoxy tables. Many of my questions answered here!

Thanks Cam. I've seen your projects at Gobys many times. I've used an auto buffer with the white 3m pads but it never attached well. I couldn't tell if it was an after-market attachment you made for the pad to adhere to or perhaps a specialty buffer? Any guidance would be helpful. Thx!

What is the difference between Rubio and osmo and is there a application that calls for one over the other

In one of your videos you used a finishing coat of something you had mentioned was a hard wax I believe you said it was a product you invented. What is it called and is it available for purchase.

Hi Cam, do find the orbital buffer helpful when using an oil varnish finish, like the Maloof finish, or have you worked it only with osmo or Monocoat flooring finishes?

this is an awesome reference video and I learned a lot - thank you!

Hey, awesome vid! It definitely helped, but I still cannot get the sanding marks out for the life of me. I sanded to 320 and no matter what pattern I use, how much I clean the dust, and how slow or fast I go, there are always lines still and im just not sure what to do. Im using odies oil to finish it, and I applied some to a small portion of the table to see if it hid the lines, but it just highlighted them even more, so if anyone could lend some advice, it’d be greatly appreciated!

Beautiful tables. Have you ever used Osmo Top Oil. I needed a good safe finish on a pair of curly maple slabs. Just before delivery, I found a couple of very fine dents. Wound up sanding the entire top again. Any tricks to doing repairs after applying Osmo or Odie‘s oil finishes.

Love your videos and your channel. Very helpful information for us beginners. My Question…do you have any tips/tricks when you sand the sides of your pieces? I find it difficult to keep an even sand on my edges. I haven’t found a great video yet that speaks to sanding the edges properly. Most just say…”don’t forget your edges”. Thanks!

Hey Cam. Love everything you do first off.. a true master! Quick question for you! Even when sanding at 600 grit between coats of osmo, I can’t seem to get a perfect uniform finish (slight, slight marks that just show unfortunately on black epoxy). I’ve gone as slow as possible and dust collect/wipe as best as I can. Any suggestions for me? Types of sand paper? Orbital sander itself? Just want to really nail that finish! Cheers, thanks again!

HELP!!!!!! I didn't mix enough epoxy resin for my first filler coat. I struggled to get epoxy on all of the surfaces and my foam brush was chattering and skipping across the surface as I franticly tried to make it stretch out to cover all surfaces. It is so thin it is almost just like a stain. Will my second coat remedy the problem or have I screwed it up? Please Help !!!!!!!!!

what pad do I use for a 125 or 150mm rotary polisher for a car. Osmo gloss. Lambswool? I can't seem to find the 3m white non abrasive but I found a grey version that says no abrasive. Tested on some pine and it looks amazing. Think it just needs a burnish. Or do I need a random orbital?

Also is it every sticky? Brother wants to use a mouse directly on it, althought I think he should get a desk mousepad. We'll be building a basic laminated wood table for him with a sit stand desk and I'm thinking osmo, I've only got gloss. I know with traditional wax it needs heat to activate and level (I do woodturning too)

Also what are your thoughts on mirka deros 125/150? I'm tempted to get one one day. Bit too poor for festool lol and the mirka will be hard. I like the palm idea of it. Not sure if I'll get into epoxy table as it's my fortnights income for 30L but we have some nice woods in australia. I have a cnc router I took years to scounge for so I can level some slabs n sand them. I can probably afford say 5L of resin maybe 10 at most. Would like to do either a dark wood, or a red eucalyptus wood with electric blue mica pigment for an entertainment unit. Would love to make a resin dinner table but that's gonna cost a few pennies. They're what, at least 1-2k AUD in Materials? Being disabled has it's drawbacks for hobbies, money is one of them. Great content on your site though.

Cam, this is really helpful!
One question: does the Osmo need to be reapplied at a certain point years down the road (if so, how long in your opinion?), or is the process you demonstrated intended to be one-and-done?

Thank you in advance! -Joe

I have a question that's been bugging me for a while. I've seen lots of river tables cracking over time, and most woodworkers say it's because the wood was not completely covered with resin. Therefore, it cracks along the resin line or the fiber splits. In your videos, I don't really see you pouring a seal coat at the end. It there a higher risk for cracks or not if you leave the table as it is in this video?

Do you still recommend Osmo? Working on an acacia and walnut table and have Osmo 3031 Matte to use for the finish. Assuming the n3 will work well with that combination as a protective finish?

I just finished my first river table with one coat of Rubio. The epoxy still shows scratches and pigtails. I had to flatten the table with a home built sled and had to smooth it with 50 grit belt sander to start. It left marks. I couldn’t get the out with 60 grit orbital. Would nano coat fill them?
