Why Halo 3 Was AMAZING (Retrospective)

Looking back at Halo 3, as a 14 year old who has never experienced Halo 3 day one, i really want to make a game recreating all of this feeling. I really want to make a game as epic as Halo 3.

Videos like this actually makes me want to cry.

Still play Halo to this day. It will sadly never be the same as the good old custom games Halo 3 days. I’m glad 343 ha remastered all the games.

Greatest game of all time, will always be my favourite

The depth of map customization, stat-tracking and recording functionality, and various fun maps and game modes in multiplayer were immensely satisfying. The fact that we could unlock all sorts of armor sets from gameplay alone was something that's bonkers by the standard of today. Halo 3 was really the pinnacle of gaming for myself and countless others.

The Halo 3 campaign was pretty underwhelming for me. Nothing special about it at all for me.

I'm getting an Xbox 360 and this game and Halo 4 me and my staff are going to play it

Halo 3 was only big because Halo 2. The game itself was crippled by bad network and mechanic choices.

Idk halo 3 was actually my least favorite game in the entire series. Guns felt weak graphics were so so and story was un impressive

Not gonna lie, I got kind of emotional as the video was ending. So many fond memories and so many hours of lost sleep. This was an excellent retrospective. I appreciate all of the work that went into making it. If I had to pick the fondest of memories from the Halo 3 era it was most definitely the release of the map Cold Storage. I remember flying around that map in forge the day it came out until I could barely hold my eyes open anymore. Happy tears. 😭

Something I learned is: if walking for a vehicle section where multiple friendly vehicles are used, tk the marines first. They WILL ram you constantly... (Tsavo highway ain't fun walking if the marines live)

Great Documentary!
I played them all in 2022 (on PC - Master Chief Collection) for the first time and after finishing the first 2 I was hyped for the 3rd one. The funny thing is that because I stepped away from modern games for a month or so Halo 3's graphics seemed so good and modern in comparison but the gunplay felt top notch (and this time I mean compared to modern games). I can tell you this is my favorite Halo after having completed 1,2, 3 ODST, 4 and half of Halo Reach. So yeah, it deserves all the hype it got.

First of all, great narration and pacing. There are quite a few retrospective videos with other creators who speak way too fast and pretty much no silence, leaving zero room to think and digest the information, many seem in a hurry to cram as much information possible without actually trying to make sure the viewer is getting all that. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I don't feel like I need to watch at 0.75 speed or drink a can of red bull to follow along lol.

Halo 3 means so much to me, so many weekends with my brother playing social slayer and making friends. It really helped us practice our English. I always sucked at the game but that didn't matter to me, I still had fun. My friends invited my brother to complete the legendary campaign achievement (I don't remember the name), but unfortunately for them I was always playing alongside my brother, so they didn't have much of a choice but to let me play, and it took FOREVER to complete. I'm sure they were thinking of kicking me out lol, I don't blame them, but we still completed it, so I was like an extra difficulty level.

I still remember playing fat boy! I wasn’t even 10 years old then, yet I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Legit made some of my best friends through this game and we all still play together till this day.

Halo 3 was my first game on 360 and I simply fell in love. I still remember it fondly and wonderfully and I will never forget that no other game gave me and my friends as much joy and laughter as it did. Halo 3 is the best forever.

nothing beats a good Halo 3 Co-Op Legendary campaign where neither player lets the other progress.. you're just killing each other over and over in Sierra 117.. or starting a war, army of two (no pun intended) against the entire UNSC in Crows Nest..
and then there's the amount of hours you'd spend in Forge mode to create the most chaotic Custom Game maps

Halo 3 and the original 5 halo game changed my life as a whole. Halo 3 represents a timeless set of memories, full of fun and friends.

They should bring back the servers for one night, for the games xbox release anniversary!

God tier game, over a decade later and i still love playing halo, so beautiful.

I’ve played Halo ever since CE as a kid. I still remember the day 3 came out. Sitting at school waiting for the bell to ring to sprint to my buddies house where me and about 6 of my friends all got together with our game fuel and played through the whole campaign, plus multiplier, all night into the next afternoon. Hands down will always be my favorite game and some of my fondest memories.

My favorite part is the “fun before beauty” this is on the cusp or 343i or sorry Halo Studios says theyre going back to halo’s roots and making graphics better lmao

i like halo, but the thing is, the whole fanbase is a bunch of kyles, i still been playing it since 04 though, and will still continue to play it no matter how much halo is to kyles what the scat pack is to the inner city
