During Beta decay, if the substance (not an ione) is losing an electron and also gaining a proton, shouldnt the charge of the substance be +2?

For the radiation in magnetic fields, isn't it the left hand rule since we're determining the force on on a current carrying conductor in a magnetic field, not the direction of induced current in a generator? I'm not sure, since right hand rule doesn't yield the correct direction for force for me, but left hand rule does.
