Can you please look into products like peplink routers and give do a detailed review on some of their lineup?
ОтветитьShannon, would you recommend using MAC ID filtering within a 3rd party router if possible? Was just something that I have seen used on my family's home network I'm the past and haven't seen that used in recent years..?
ОтветитьThanks for sharing these security tips. Blessings on your day.
ОтветитьHa I literally just watched the IoT episode where you asked if we wanted THIS video. Glad people said yes :)
ОтветитьShannon, do you have any recommendations for a new Wi-Fi router? There are so many brands and so many models as well asstandard Wi-Fi and mesh Wi-Fi. Help!!!! Any recommendations would be helpful.
ОтветитьRegarding No. 7... I want to follow this advice but don't know how to create different networks for my IoT devices (Hub is ethernet connected) and the Wifi access points providing access for my other devices. I heard of using multiple routers, but what is the setup that requires the least devices.
ОтветитьTechnically you don't really need anti-virus software, except maybe the occasional spot check.
But I guess it might be useful if you like to download random stuff from the internet.
If you have some common sense, and keep an eye out, you'll be fine for the most part.
Also, if you are on Windows, then Windows Defender is likely more than good enough.
Thanks Shannon! Just implemented #7 and made the IoTs own network. Great sweater to match your hair as well.
ОтветитьAnother thing that can be used in your tool belt is have a bait crypto wallet that has a QR code or what ever that isn't a public facing one and have some crypto on it. If you see the crypto has gone missing you will know someone has been in your system
Ответить❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ответитьoh i forgot to say I wanted you to do a video like this - yay ive been waiting for this! :)
ОтветитьThanks Shannon! I've been working on my Unifi controller. Implementing better firewall rules. Preventing VLAN to VLAN communication. Blocking my security cameras from accessing the internet. Blocking my IoT devices from communicating with other devices on my network. I update my Wifi security settings often. Also keep my printers on their own VLAN network too.
ОтветитьShannon, You should drop those glasses 🤓😉
ОтветитьThank you, thank you, thank you Ms. Morse!!
ОтветитьI was so captivated by your expert advice and the clear, easy-to-understand, friendly way in which you presented it that I didn't notice until almost the end that your hair matched your sweater! Great information delivered with finesse -- how could anybody not like this?
ОтветитьThe sure thing about oses regarding security: NEVER use windows. Never.
ОтветитьSubscribing to Shannon Morse channel instantly grants 10% to home network security.
Keep up with excellent content.
I TRIED creating both an Admin account and User account so my day-to-day use In Windows did not have Admin rights. It failed. Way too many simple things needed the Admin rights to work.
ОтветитьIdea: Create a series of videos like you visited a elderly relative and found no passwords on anything, old OS, running PC as 'admin', etc. Show how to clean/scan devices, protect them but then make it still useful for casual users who do not eat, drink, breathe security. Take someone with little to no protection to a modest level of protection.
ОтветитьEERO Pro 6 Routers are very secure.
Ответитьif only windows would allow sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y <ENTER> enter your password <ENTER>
ОтветитьNice work Shannon keep it up 😊
ОтветитьHi Shannon...does DeleteMe work for Europeans?
ОтветитьThis is awesome!!!! Do you have a recent video on anti-virus suggestions and ideas.
Ответить⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
ОтветитьGreat ideas! I'll create a user account for Windows and more! Like clear my cache and cookies. I also leave Bluetooth off until i need it.
ОтветитьI wished that Windows sandbox was available for Home. not pro and above.
ОтветитьThank you that had a lot of good tips to follow or to refresh your memory about your own home network security. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Ответитьcan I put my IoT devices on the guest network?
ОтветитьI'm so glad for sponsorblokc, damn
Ответить✨⭐✨💕💞💕💕💞💕💞💕💞💕✨⭐✨
ОтветитьYour a life saver Sailor Moon Shannon ❤❤❤Thank you. This video was right on time!❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьROFL.. If you haven't seen your router and/or modem in a few years, there probably aren't any current updates for them. One of the few appliances I actually recommend replacing LESS than every 10 years.
ОтветитьI have a google mesh router that only has a guest network. It allows me to make devices on the main network visible on the guest network as well - I do that just for the printer.
I am curious if there are any consumer grade mesh routers that support 3 networks: main, guest and IOT. Also, I would still want to connect from the main network to the IOT network (but not the other way) so I can cast to smart tvs, controll my garage door opener, etc.
Your videos are very informative and goes a long way to help with security and privacy on the Internet. Can you make a video on computers that are secure, maybe comparing Librem, System 76 and the likes. Please talk about Canesspy as well, as it is a malware (spyware) targeting WhatsApp and Telegram application users.
ОтветитьGreat video. Shared it with some of my (IRL) network. I'm curious as to what good options you'd recommend checking out for anti malware software, and how that's different from anti-virus.
ОтветитьThanks for the great tips Shannon! I have to find out if DeleteMe is available in Canada. It was in beta testing as of 2022.
ОтветитьIf ur not being targeted, ur pretty much safe.
Ответитьthere is one thing you forgot to mention
that is that no mater what you do you must keep up on your security because if you do not then all you have done can come for not
as my favorite saying that has ever been said is
"What mankind can make mankind can break."
i recommend doing a security check of your system once a month minimum, pick a day and stick to it, be it the first Saturday of the month or what have you
that involves updates, checking for unknown devices, malware checks, etc.
Good video.
ОтветитьI have been a long time fan lingering in the shadows, and I went to check up on ThreatWire and there was this new host and I was so confused until I looked up why 😂 I was like her hair isn’t nearly as cool!!!?? 🤣
Love this channel… good to see you are well, love the content as always :-) cheers
The first step of securing your home network is forcing ISPs to allows us to use our own routers...
Ответитьso weird that NSA, the one's who actually spy on it's own people, are giving insights on how to stay secure.
Ответитьhack 5 its nothing without you really
ОтветитьThe best time of the month to update Windows OS is during the last week of the month because by this time Microsoft had been notified of bugs and then you could assume these bugs were fixed. I always wait until the last week and better yet I wait until the last Thursday or Friday, as in typically anywhere beyond the 25th or 26th of the month.
ОтветитьWindows Defender works very well. I also have Malwarebytes Browser Guard, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, and ScamAdvisor.
Ответитьi'm just here for the coolest hair ever 😊
