I don't see this as doom, but rather a new way of connecting. Rather than having one conversation, you have be having so many more with people from all over the world. I think this is advancement.

Obviously, it's rude to do that when someone is talking to you, but I wouldn't mind if the other person could still keep up a conversation; it's like talking to someone when they're reading the newspaper (except newspapers are like, extinct now).

whenever i speak to my dad (and keep in mine i get to see him like once a month) hes always on his phone. i have to speak twice, to 3 times to get his attention. its been like this since i was 10. (I'm 16)
