I feel like this is a commentary on the emphasis on romance in most cultures. People say that love is supposed to heal all. But the truth is that you can have love and support and still be miserable. Both Miku and Rin have supposedly experienced being in love, yet still feel empty. Therefore, they feel as if there’s nothing to look forward to in life and want to die.
