While I've always been very dismissive of the likes of Mendelssohn, Berlioz and Schumann, I have to give a huge amount of credit to Maestro Dudamel here; he's truly a wonder and I hope he has at least as long a successful career as a Toscanini or a Stokowski. The amount of times that he's actually disappointed me is frightfully rare.
ОтветитьSo you're dismissive of musical giants like Berlioz, Mendelssohn and Schumann and yet give bigger credit to a conductor who won't be remembered in 50 years. Arrogant and interesting.
ОтветитьDudamel WILL be remembered in 50 years much the same way that Stokowski's 1929 recording of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto is remembered or Toscanini's 1936 NY Philharmonic recording of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony is remembered. That you don't think so is arrogant and interesting; Dudamel is the best thing to happen to conducting in this country since Stokowski become director of The Philadelphia Orch. in 1912.
ОтветитьFor someone so dismissive of Dudamel and so in love with Mendelssohn it's a shame you can't admit that this is about as magnificent a reading as there is. That, and while I also generally deplore multiple microphones, it's also very well recorded. You really are that arrogant . . .
ОтветитьYou are wrong. He is the most unassuming and unpretentious human being that I have ever seen before a podium.
ОтветитьThis orchestra is very good. I dislike the sluggish tempo.
ОтветитьI agree with you, Dudamel is Venezuela oil money, to insult U.S. intelligence he is a one of a century genius, is a stadium full of manure, stinking up the Hollywood Bowl and Walt Disney Hall.
ОтветитьMaestro Dudamel has never disappointed me. In fact, he has exceeded my expectations. He is a man of great honor and dignity. He is getting huge pressure from the LA elited for him to betray his country.....and he won't. Not even for money. Dudamel is NOT a sellout to Imperialism. Learn people..This is true greatness.
Ответитьhe is just squeezing the juice of any kind of sheet music you put in front of Dudamel,
wonderful!
Best tempo I have heard. All others too fast, and nothing like the Scottish music. Bravo Dudamel.
ОтветитьNot a huge Mendelssohn fan as a rule, but this is a delightful movement and a perfect little gem of sonata form. Doesn't sound the least bit sluggish!

ОтветитьFelix Mendelsohn composed joyful melodies except for his Symphony No. 5, which he is recorded as being the symphony he detested.
