Elden Ring Sword of Night and Flame Build Guide - How to Build a Deathblade (Level 100 Guide)

I like to use the sword of night and flame in my right hand while left handing the crystal sword. It’s one of my favorite dual wields and performs pretty well. It’s not the greatest, but it gets the job done and with style.

I’m level 330 I’m gonna try to max out all stats within reason bc I currently have the highest damage staff the prince of death staff but most think it’s not bc u need to be such a high level to reach its max power but again lvl 330 so I just need most scaling

What’s should I allocate stats towards for this build v?

Brought this build to lvl 300, 80 INT/70 FTH, and the SoN&F and Ancient death rancor obliterate bosses even in journey 4/5. This prob isn’t the path for PVP people but just wanted to share

It has high AR yes. looks like a lot.

But it's split between 3 damage types. That's bad. Physical, Magical, and Fire.

Then each scales off a different stat. The biggest kicker is that each is reduced separately.

For example, fighting Nights Calvary. It has a flat 35 resist to physical/35 to slash, 40 to magic and 40 to fire. Very little of that damage is going to make it through, and this gets significantly worse the farther into the game you go, and into NGs.

The beam and flames themselves deal a single damage type scaling with Int/Faith respectively, so they are fine if your stats are there.

The damage on the swings themselves are always going to be worse than a weapon that is spec'd right and for the boss.

This things ace is that it is adaptive as hell. Stack fire damage talismans for it, or magic, or physical. It can do all decently.

I love the giant bubble spell it can really take big chunks out of sloww moving things. Fp efficiency also, so I use the mimic tear helmet .. what other blade would you recommend for off hand until I can find another night and flame sword?

So what stats would you have for level 260 ? Trying to make a build myself for it

One thing to note about this sword, because it is triple damage that means it goes through 3 x damage reduction. The damage it actually does on enemies will most likely be lower than a weapon that was pure phys or phys and one other damage type with the same AR. Not saying it's a bad sword it's great but the exceedingly high AR isn't quite what it seems.

Id love to see the stats completely unbuffed. IE: Stripped of all armor, equipment...everything. Then It might be possible to compare the build/stats we have to other similar builds you put out and see if maybe simply swapping gear changes from a Deathblade over to Battlemage...

I substituted Ancient Death Rancor with Rykkard’s Rancor and it seems to do more damage and overall better for bigger enemies as they can’t usually dodge the delayed blasts. Meanwhile you can cast Comet Azur for added DPS.

This build reminds me a lot of the Hero’s Shade from Twilight Princess

I had the Sword of Night and Flame in my PS4 version of Elden Ring and it was beast. I can’t wait to get my last stat point into Faith to start using it on my PS5 version

Someone pls help! Is the prince of death staff better then the meteor staff? I know the meteor doesn’t help with faith but seems like other than that it’s the better choice. Is this not the case?

The magic part of this sword seems so unpredictable. Many times it misses the target while the flame side is definitely slow casting. I'm about to give up on this build and switch to Eleonora's polearm after respec. It's a shame because I had such high hopes for TSONAF 😔

i'm planning to change my build to this because the Bloodhound build is so OP even my mimic can kill a boss by itself haha

Given the staff and seal of this build you're really best off keeping faith and intelligence balanced. It's very tempting to pump up one or the other but you lose significant AR and aren't maxing your staff and seal. For dual welding you can use Crystal Sword, Golden Epithet or something else you like. Dropping duplicates is meh imo. Comet skill is great, but faster bosses can dodge. Flame art won't miss ;) key to this build is not over leveling Mind, ironically. You want to increase damage and not miss. For buffs I like to stack them after using a flask which has cerulean hidden tear, which means no fp cost for 30 seconds. Now I'm charged up with full fp and tons of health.

There's one aspect of this build that people keep SAYING is true but I'm not really seeing in practice: Ancient Death Rancor and how great it is at staggering. ... Well I'm not really seeing it do much of anything. Am I misunderstanding something?

I've seen it work against humanoids (and humanoid bosses, as long as they're not on horseback... these had no effect on the Draconic Tree Sentinel, Valiant Gargoyle, nor any Lesser Runebears, for example).

Let me be descriptive: When they get hit with skulls, I don't see them wince from the impact the way humanoids do. Their attacks are 100% uninterrupted, continuing like the skulls are just doing the tiniest sliver of damage that they're doing. Their stance never breaks either - depleting my FP bar multiple times to hopefully achieve this effect to no avail...

It could be that I'm misunderstanding what "stagger" means, but I'm hoping someone could elaborate here... Perhaps it was a patch that nerfed this spell? I'm going to experiment with spells that fextralife lists as particularly effective at breaking stances in the meantime...

Could you, in theory, instead of focusing on JUST the Night Comet art and split the stats, and do a "quality" style build with this setup? Because I like the idea of a quality fath/int build for both attacks.

I want to do this build so bad, but I just love wacking things to much. Its gonna be difficult for me to use the armament more than just spamming R1 and R2

I have no idea why people are giving this guys builds so much hate on the wiki. Some of these builds (especially carian battle kage and deaths poker build) have helped me a lot. Even in pvp against those annoying pesky bleed users
