I have to say that I have been perplexed by the naming of this type of music as Rockabilly. It is not. I was a dj in the 50's and can tell you that this music was never called Rockabilly back then. It was called Hillbilly or Hillbilly Boogie. Rockabilly was a form of R'n'R and was a TEENAGE music. No teenager in his right mind back then would have listened to these hoakum tracks. I remember someone handing a 45 of Track Down Baby by Tom James at a R'n'R dance in early 1959 and asked me to play it. I did play it and the teenagers hated it and called it "Granpaw music". I was still a dj in the 70s and this track, and others like it, were all the rage and were now called "Rockabilly". STRANGE WORLD.
The only tracks on this collection that could be called rockabilly are the Rikki & The Rikatones recordings and the Kid Rock recording. The rest are a bit away from Rockabilly (early Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Burnette, Joe Clay, etc)
