Quick tip - Put on 2 or 3 pairs of those disposable gloves in the beginning, that way if one rips or gets dirty and needs to come off, you can simply slide it off and you've got a new one already in place.
Ответить10/30 oil?
ОтветитьGood video - I think I'm not going with the Rotella T6 only because the manual says 15w-40 or 20w-40/50 for temps that I ride in 50F+. From what I've read changing good brand oil more often trumps longer use of expensive synthetic oils. Is your 2014 filter # 5GH-13440-60-00 ?
ОтветитьGreat video as always. My Manuel for my 2014 for says 31lb for oil drain bolt so that's what I do. Thanks!
Ответитьthanks for the effort and the sharing of your obvious fjr1300 experience. thumbs up.
ОтветитьRotella T6 used to be JASO MA and JASO MA2 Standard, but viewing the product label on Amazon, it appears that they have dropped the ratings. Some posters have said that they changed the formula.
ОтветитьMy preference in motorcycle oil Caltex delo400 15w40 used it in my last three bikes reduses cam rattle keeps the insides spotless
ОтветитьWhat's the difference between the first lagerer oil tank and the second smaller one?Greets, a new JFR owner :)
ОтветитьStraight from engineer at Castrol. Oil has no real shelf life. Will last for many years on a shelf.
Ответитьto tell the truth, this bike is motherfucking lot easier to maintain than kawasaki concours14
ОтветитьHi Bryan. Just a question. I have an 05 FJR1300. I live in san diego, CA. If I wanted to try the Rotella T6, what viscosity would you recommend? I see some at Walmart, but they only have 5W-40. The yamalube I've been using is 10-50. Thanks in advance!
ОтветитьQuick thank you. I changed the oil and filter today on my 2015 FJR and all went well, thanks almost entirely to your videos. I also installed a GPS which I could not have done without your video on putting on a battery tender pig tail, as I could not for the life of me figure out how to remove the fasteners which needed a small Allen wrench to pop out. The Yamaha service manual has no instructions on how to get to the battery. Anyway, many thanks for your efforts as they are much appreciated.
ОтветитьLove my FJR since I bought it in 2006. No problems until now. Can you do a how-to-video to run down starting problems? I think the starter need replacement. Can you help? Many thanks if you can.
ОтветитьGood stuff!
Ответитьwath do you think about lucas semisyntetic oli, is recomended? in engine and final gear??
ОтветитьI also use Rotella T6 in my FJR as well as my old Hondas. Their gallon jugs do not have a foil seal like other brands.
The jack arse you're looking for is at the Rotella plant. ;-)
Great video. Thank you!
ОтветитьDoes the flat side of the crush washer go against the drain plug or the oil pan?
ОтветитьWhat weight oil do you use? It looks like you are using 5w40. Is this correct?
ОтветитьSorry if this is redundant, but what’s the total amount of oil roughy 4.5 quarts? Thanks
Ответитьhey you do great videos
ОтветитьHi Brain great video , what oil are using 20 w 40 or something else thanks o appreciate
ОтветитьIs that T6 oil designated at "Diesel" That's all I can find for it specifically. Assuming at the correct weight (10W-40) it's fine?
ОтветитьTwoWheelObsession: can you tell me again what type of Rotella T6 oil are you using for Ex. the one you used on the video to change your oil, due to the fact that there are quite a few types of Rotella makes and I want to use the same one you are using in your video, thanks.
ОтветитьAs per the manual, 4.23 qts with filter change. As stated, always check your level as you go along, but 5 quarts would be way too much on my 2016 FJR.
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I looked it up in my paperwork and the last time I had the oil changed, the dealer did it and charged me $117!! Of course, they supposedly checked out the whole bike. I’m looking forward to saving money on this process. What other things would I need to check on the bike when changing the oil and filter?
Ответитьhi, i am looking for a tutorial to change the oil pump chain on my yamaha fjr 1300 mod 07, a noise is heard and it may be the oil pump chain but i can't find a tutorial to locate and change it, thanks
ОтветитьWhere do you dispose of the old oil?
ОтветитьMaybe someone knows: how to delete the oil inspection (daschcam timer) - yamaha FJR 2016
ОтветитьI find all of the ROTELLA oil says DIESEL,.... that's OK???
ОтветитьThank You for a great Vid, I just bought my ‘12 FJR FROM 189 miles away, and the owner told me it need an engine and shaft drive oil change he did three years ago, the FJR brought me back with no problems; and watching your vid it looks easy….
ОтветитьYou really should give the bike a minute to let the oil settle before checking it per the manual. f you check it immediately after shutting the bike off then you have a lot of oil trapped in the top of the motor that’s dripping down. You’ll be surprised how much it raises up after only 45 seconds
ОтветитьAwesome, great tips on the foil, warming up the oil, lubricating the seal… i’m sure I missed something else, I’m gonna watch it again. Great info.
ОтветитьI need this answered super quick please so my clutch went out and I’m changing and replacing everything what oil did you use in this video
ОтветитьIt's an old video, I know...As the new owner of an FJR, I came across this video and found it very helpful. There was ONE thing in the video that had me yelling "noooooo!!!!' at my TV.
As soon as the larger bottle of oil was opened, it should have been returned to the retailer. Sure, some jerk bought the bottle, helped themselves to some, then returned it - basically getting a free top-up. BUT...
Although it was confirmed this was not simply old oil that was returned to the store, there was no way of knowing that the oil was not contaminated by something else. If I had come across this scenario, I would prefer to take the time to go to the retailer to get a new bottle, rather than risk malicious contamination that could destroy my engine.
But besides that, thanks heaps for this. I am not mechanically minded, but it showed just how easy an oil change was do to on my 2017 machine.
Thanks for the great video . By the way, if you put a little bit of baby powder on your hands, those gloves slide on very easily.
ОтветитьDo you use the Rotella T6 5W-40
Or the 15W-40 ?
I struggled with removing the original oil filter but other than that, your instructions were spot on sir. Thank you for a great instructional video 👍🏻🍻
ОтветитьThis is actually the best made video ever. I was all into it. With the small details that you pay attention to. I love it. It was very very helpful. I just bought my first FJR and I will do oil change myself. Please let us know if you have videos on complete maintenance and tuning. 👍
ОтветитьDoing my very first Rotella oil change on my 2013 tonight. Thanks for the videos. I’ve become a pretty good mechanic on my bike.
ОтветитьIt’s not correct about the oil filter. I can take mine off by hand.
ОтветитьMore interesting than the oil price is : What kind of oil, like 20 W 40 did you use?
ОтветитьHello Bryan, thanks for your instructionvideo about oil change for yamaha fjr 1300 2013 and above. I just have changed my oil(4 liter). oil filter and fill it up to the level between the two dots like you have shown in your video. Everything went well. I started a few times to let the oil fill the spaces in the engine and oil filter, level was a little under middel level, top it off again between the two dots. When I start de engine and put him in gear and let the clutch out, the oil level in the looking glass drops to below the first dot, when I turn the engine off, the oil comes back between the two dots. All of this when the engine is still on the center stand. 🙈Is this normal? when your driving, you don't look at the looking glass, so this is a surprise to me. 😊
ОтветитьDespite knowing how to change my oil it so handy to have the little tips in this video. How brave are you putting in oil that has been opened by someone unknown.
ОтветитьI don’t remember T6 oil being comparable with bikes and clutches
Ответитьwhy put the nut back andstill have the filter on? i would remove it all, then let it drip for a min.. by moving the filter you might throw some old oil out the filter back in your system.
Ответитьwhy not fill it up to full? why go halfway? its ok to be within the margens, but full is where you can see if it goes down if you ride longer. and the max is more oil for more lubrication.
Ответитьthank you
