I watched it back then and it was such delightful news when Issa got Insecure (hell yeah, get it Issa!!). The show is its own thing of course but I like that it also functions as a spiritual successor to this gem, kind of like the Chrono Cross to its Chrono Trigger (a reference for whoever put Chrono Trigger music in the soundtrack of ABG haha, I see you)

Yea, when kendall amd nick stole fuckong boxing gloves at the sweeneys then planted on me.... i knew i was time to keep my head low and leave ASAP. Ironically enough, the moment i left that school everybody was on my dick my junior and senior year at the new school. There WAS NIGHT and day difference... then the more i expanded out of minnesota, i realized i was simply in a shitty close knit community with white people who grew up together. I dont know what the hell my parents was thinking moving me to a shithole like that, but i respect their decision.

I remember watching this show when I was in highschool. Now I’m 28. Issa Rae inspired me to do the big chop and embrace my natural hair when I was 17. Now my hair is down my back when stretched. Issa Rae was also the first dark skin black woman I saw who was an awkward quirky black girl like me. Thank you Issa. You don’t know how much you inspired me. ❤
