What If You Return to Delphine Without Esbern, Given the Thalmor Are After Him in Skyrim? #skyrim

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you returned to Delphine without Esbern, knowing that the Thalmor are after him? I decided to find out, so after Delphine sent me to locate him, I immediately headed to where he might be, in The Ratway. There, I spoke to the innkeeper who informed me of Esbern's location. Using this information, I found Esbern and persuaded him to open the door for me. Inside, I informed him that I was the Dragonborn, and he promptly offered to join me on my journey. Nevertheless, I decided not to give him a moment and, without waiting for him, went straight back to Delphine. And here's what she told me.
