They were a very diverse group of reptiles that existed for much, much, I repeat much longer period of time – for around 180 million years - than our species. And they were already on the evolutionary way out when that presumed cosmic disaster struck around 65 million years ago. So change your script. Remember, Darwin never said anything about “survival of the fittest”. Instead he was in favour of the survival of the most adaptable.
