isn't this just the 'normal' part of life? The bit in between the hypomania/mania and the non function disassociated part. If this part is the 'depression' and not just 'normal' then no part of me is normal and that seems more worrying.

I am from Iowa. I am almost 78 and have had bipolar 1 disorder since I was in high school. Doctors could treat my depression but I was very high functioning during my manic cycles and and thought nothing of going on 2-3 hours of sleep for weeks at a time. Now that I have found a good cocktail of medication and therapy I have much more depression and very rare slight manic episodes. Your videos are such a good help for an understanding of what I have been experiencing my whole life.
Thank you for all the effort you put into this valuable work that you share with us.

Oh yes...the pain.

In my depression state I some would sometimes gain a lot of weight but then my appetite went completely loosing so much weight.... wasn't diagnosed till I was 64 depression could last 6 months to 18 months .

My god, it’s crazy. Always thought I was just an irritable type. I realize now it’s just because I’ve been in some sort of tormenting pain since I was a kid. Not diagnosed yet but I definitely feel the signs are leading to this.

I feel like trying to explain it to someone is like trying to sell them something. They look at you like you’re lying about it, not knowing the hell that inside your mind every single day.

I am about to turn 27 years old and I can’t believe I’m still here. Much love to everyone out there struggling with this evil condition.

I have bipolar and I truly dislike the person I can become sometimes. I can be so mean and horrific to people, screM, shout, have terrible road rage and I will look at the person who I have become and hate everything I see. I ask myself how can a person be the mean to others?

This was really good to hear. All of these components to the bipolar depression resonated with how my own struggles have presented. So its good to know that this is apart of the illness and not a defect in character in myself. Although, I am responsible for what I may so, think, or even do, this helped me today.
