That whole thing with the letter and the hidden frequency reminds me of Metal Gear Solid when the Colonel tells you to call Meryl for help. He hints that her frequency can be found on the back of the CD case... Which is actually the back of the video game case in real life.
ОтветитьReally wish startropics 2 was on nintendo switch online
ОтветитьI’m 57 years old😂! I played those games when they first came out. I did rent the first one… it didn’t have the letter. It took me FOREVER to finally get the “747” code! Loved Zoda’s Revenge also. I actually bought that game new…. Just in case!🤣🤣 Thank you for this video. I thought I was the only one who recognized its brilliance! I love all the Zelda, Castlevania, etc. style games! I love the combination of action, adventure and clue solving these games have! I’m currently playing Zelda TOTK. I’d love to see a revamp of the “Star Tropics” series! Thanks again for this great video!! Great work!
Ответитьthis is one of my favorite NES games of all time and I also like mike jones.
ОтветитьLoved this game
ОтветитьI loved the original game, but the lack of hit-invincibility in the second game made it unplayable for me. And all the jumping problems, ugh. I didn't find it an improvement at all over the first game. The grid based movement was he hallmark of the game. The weird hybrid from ST2 just made it harder to play.
ОтветитьI remember I used to stare at an Nintendo Power magazine advertisement for StarTropics. The cover was so beautiful to me that I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I have legit been in love with it since I saw the ad in 1989 and i'm forty three today.
ОтветитьCan someone tell me what musical piece is playing during the intro? Shazam has failed me yet again.
ОтветитьThank you dad for buying me Startropics as a kid. Nintendo Power made me hunger for it. What great memories. What a beutiful time in life. RIP Dad.
ОтветитьLOVED this game as a kid ❤
ОтветитьI played Startropics when it came out and was quite "Underwhelmed".
I never gave it a 2nd playthrough like i did all the games i owned and rented when i was a teen and in my early 20s.
I dont remember exactly why, but i know i never played it a 2nd time.
Ah, the letter. That's why I was never able to finish the game. I had inherited the game from my cousin, sans packaging.
What a terrible oversight on Nintendo's part.
Hands down my favorite game for NES. I'm not sure how many times I played through it.
ОтветитьI rented the game, so you know how that went for me as a kid
ОтветитьIf this got the BOTW treatment I'd preorder that so fast
ОтветитьGood video! One of the first games my dad got me (and had to play with me since it was so hard^^) that always makes me emotionnal.
ОтветитьForgot to add; I think James looked at this game and tols us altough it has it's sare of iusses it's not an AVGN Video.
ОтветитьRewatching the series, now that... you know... :-(
ОтветитьThey need to bring this series back. This game was a big part of my childhood.😢
ОтветитьI'm gonna insist that we get Rawk Hawk added to smash before Mike.
ОтветитьI remember seeing the manual for this game it looked cool
ОтветитьHears no "You dont know anything about it" as a speed runner 😂🎉
ОтветитьMike jjooonnnnnnes unnhhh ahahahah
ОтветитьI know for a fact I beat this game, I had the morninstar, and I was fighting aliens... but I did not have this letter. :/ And I don't remember having the internet back then to find the radio frequency.... I must have done it the long way by trying them all.
ОтветитьI just got through Star Tropics for the first time. What a lovely summertime adventure! Looking forward to the second one.
ОтветитьMike Jones! Who?! Mike Jones!
ОтветитьSimilar things have been done with manuals before this game. The Ultima games did it, which were very popular in Japan.
ОтветитьMIKE JONES
ОтветитьThere's an alternate ending where Slim Thug and Paul Wall actually kidnapped Mike Jones's uncle.
ОтветитьMike Jones!
ОтветитьOne of my all-time favorite games! 🌟
ОтветитьI absolutely loved playing Star tropics when I was a kid, had the letter and everything. Never played the second one though.
Ответитьwas a great game ... i had a hard time with the radio frequency part cuz i got the cartridge used from.... gamestop
FYI: gamestop ripped me off when i got it and again when i traded it in.... go figure..
Star Tropics is the best NES game i ever played. It also took me the longest to complete.
ОтветитьHonestly, it kind of reminds me of the earthbound/mother series
Ответитьso is that magic number the same for all the carts ? or there is a number specifically for the cart you bought ?
ОтветитьThis game made up so much of my childhood... I wish that I could have bought a fresh one though because mine was bought pre-owned from a rental store so it didn't have the all-important letter.
I remember having to look up the code online... lol
WHO
ОтветитьI know this is an old video, but StarTropics is my favorite Nintendo game. Thank you so much for making this and pointing out BOTH pros and cons! I never got too far into the 2nd one, but I really would have loved more to the series.
ОтветитьI had this game with letter and everything and lot it many many years ago.
ОтветитьI had this game on NES. I never got past first dungeon if I remember right. I'm from Finland and I played the game when I was 7-8 years old and couldn't understand english yet. The game was pretty difficult but fun although like i said I never got past first dungeon.
ОтветитьIf you want a study aid to help remember the secret code: think of a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet.
ОтветитьI don’t know how I came across this game but it has been etched in my memory ever since I played it. Amazing story
ОтветитьNintendo should try and redo all these old classic but new stories' new graphics of these top titles
ОтветитьThe NES is a haven for classical Nintendo games... hmmm... 😅

This game’s style is what Zelda 2 should’ve been.
ОтветитьI think his inclusion in Smash would be cool, but it's basically Ness without the PSI abilities
