In my experience Jack Daniels is better than any bourbon I've ever tried. For anyone who doesn't realize it, JD is not bourbon.

The "new American white oak" thing is a misnomer. The regulation says "new charred oak container". We happen to use American white oak (species: Quercus Alba) because we have it and we like it. The Pacific Northwest frequently uses Oregon Oak (also known as Garry Oak, species: Quercus Garryana).
