I love the fact that in far cry 2 nothing you do i.pavts the world. It just makes you feel more like just a guy. You're not there to kill a tyrant or end a war, you're just a hitman there to get his money and get out.

Far Cry Primal is by far my favorite in the series

Primal, while beingfar cry 3+ (with a better gameplay loop)at its core, was such a good idea that I'm really sad it didn't cause a larger trend of these sort of prehistory-themed games.

Come on man "gun do more damage" is not in any way a characteristic of an RPG, it's been the default progression of shooter games forever and most og RPG games don't actually have much of that scalable weapon stuff.

I mean I love ya, but if you're breaking down how you can abuse the self inflicted fire damage on the jet pack to proc your passive damage reactive abilities to more efficiently take advantage of the game's unbalanced movement speed enhancements I would say you are missing the point of Far Cry. It ain't an MMO homie, it's a casual franchise.

You mentioned about Far Cry 4s villains not being seen as much in the game but less is more in my opinion, you don't need lots of screen time to flesh out a character, from the beginning with Pagan you instantly know what kind of person he is, his calm and collected behavior but when things don't go to plan he will snap, I think less screen time makes up for not having long drawn out cutscenes, some people don't like too many cutscenes as it can take you out of the experience, from the beginning of the game or even the secret ending, Pagan specifically wants to "tear shit up" or "finally we can shoot some goddamn fucking guns" the devs specifically wanted you to get out there and enjoy the game, keep you immersed or just have fun

I gave up on FC2 just six hours into gameplay, for all of the reasons you mention. You even list a few that I didn't have the displeasure of experiencing myself, like the disappearing malaria pills (man that would have pissed me off) or the "you're on your own" mission setup. If you count the first Far Cry, I've played only five Ubisoft games and enjoyed none of them. I truly don't understand how they are still around, much less so popular. All style, no substance. You give me hope that FC3 won't suck, but I don't know if I can bring myself to try it.

The story is just really repetitive as well

Something about Far Cry 4 enchants me. One thing I know for sure, this is where open worlds peaked for me and easaly favorite game and open world in the series. (I have played them all, minus the first.)

I’m a year late, but playing through far cry 5 again, and man some of the scene are so damn good, along with the music that follows. But you’re practically a walking camera, just imagine how good it could be if your character actually responded to the cults rambling.

I’m playing far cry primal for the first time and it’s easily the most underrated of the franchise. It deserves a sequel, maybe in another time frame. Ubisoft needs to be more creative , they have the works for another classic

Far Cry 5 was absolutely phenomenal and the very best in the series in my opinion. I don't get why it is so harshly looked upon by many people including Far Cry fans.

It lacks a little regarding the story as it could have been unforgettable if Ubisoft pushed the boundaries. A crazy fanatical religious cult in the modern day is a fantastic base to build a story that actually has something to say. They got the ending mostly right and the way that Joseph stares at you right in the eyes is chilling especially after revelation. The opening was perfect and really drills into you that you are all alone and the cult has it's tendrils all over the state including police.

The ONLY FarCry I didnt enjoy and hardly replayed was 6. It was like an AI had created what it thought a FarCry game should be, with a lot of political correctness programmed in. it was somehow soulless...Zero charisma. A big big shame. The best is 5. I really dont care about little glitches....dont care about what you seem to care about....Its all about the charm, story and enjoyment for me...and that doesnt depend on perfect gameplay. Loved 3, loved 4, loved 5 loved Primal, loved New Dawn.... I hope the nest one is better. all games recently seem to be Disneyfied...They are supposed to be adult games!!!

Great review. I haven't played beyond 3, but I liked it a lot. I 100% it. Mostly to get the special versions of the weapons. But also cause it was fun.

So Montreal studio didn't develop FC6? That explains why I just never got into it unlike the previous Far Cry games. For me Montreal, perfected FC with FC5. Hopefully, they make Far Cry 7.

After FC3 it all went to the worst and lowest commen denominator CASUAL PLAYER. It bitterly brings me to cry what's been wasted cynical management.

Honestly to me I think it’s been the spin off/non main title games that have really hurt the franchise the most but even still I think people tend to ethier overstate how bad the titles are or they actually haven’t really sat down and played most games and just piggyback off other’s opinions I mean 3, 4 , 5 are all great game and only 6 the most recent ones that has been subpar compared to the other but even then I don’t find the game as miserable as most , did they make bad choices? Yeah it has a poor main story where this franchise usually excels in that , Giancarlo was seriously underused and not used that well when he did , and the addition of a more build type game progression does not really fit at all with this serious but there were good ideas you could take from it, the the whole bullet system felt taked on but the gunplay was good as usual and I did like all the special unique guns you could get and some were pretty creative ..

For spin off yeah new dawn was pretty bad and I know there’s that 80s one but i haven’t played it yet but I guess it’s pretty liked in the community?? Finally the far cry primal game I know wasn’t well liked but I actually liked it , it was a fun way to mix up the game play loop were material gathering,resource management and hunting were put as the heavier focus and now the animals were the main threat out in the open world rather than the opposing tribes. Also I might be wrong about this but to this day there really haven’t been any games based on the the prehistoric caveman era done as good as this … yeah it’s flawed and feels like they cut corner with assists and stuff to save time and money (also my game will crash pretty much every 8 or so hours even if the hours aren’t consecutive idk what that’s about lol)

Idk I think far cry can at times get a bad rep I think due largely beening associated with Ubisoft , and that’s a tough tie to break lol

Successful multimillion dollar franchise

For me Far cry is the series I most look forward to playing. Sorry but maybe I'm the target audience, story is usually good enough but also corny which I like in a game, gameplay is sometimes so random, the base takedowns is the best

All of the problems people have with FarCry2 (excluding malaria)comes from people breaking immersion. You’re an American mercenary in Africa who is, possibly, framed for the murder of a president, hunted by a gun lord and his gang. I would not be taking my Jeep down the center of the road. I spent 90% of that game in the bushes tip toeing around outposts and ducking away from patrols. You don’t belong there so don’t act like you run the place.

Farcry 3 and 4 were the perfect balance of Immersive and practical fun gameplay. The current games lack the games feeling of the odds are against you. 3 and 4 feel grounded enough aesthetically to feel real but Arcady enough to let you get into a Rambo style shootout. Now the new games are just so unpolished and the Open world is just so much less dangerous, and it keeps getting worse

So I've played fc 3,4 and 5. I was draw into those games because of their awsome and intresting looking villains. Ubisoft milkes the absolute f out of the villains for marketing these games and the setup for the villains in these games are some of the best I have ever seen in any game or even movie for that matter. It all seems so promising. And every Interaction with those villains are definitely the highlight of the games. Heres my problem:
Vaas leaves halfway through the game and gets replaced by a vaas light who doesnt even come close to filling his shoes.
Pegan min only shows up at the beginning, once in the middle and briefly at the end. Not including the bodydouble. And yes he calls you throughout the game but it doesn't hit the same for me.
And joseph seed doesnt show up all that much either. Not to mention that insultingly stupid ending. Though thats just my opinion.

I went into these games with certain expectations due to the marketing and it feels like they did the bare minimum to atleast be able to claim that they didnt straight up lie to you.

Far cry 3 and assassin's Creed 2 are the only things Ubisoft has ever done right

really enjoyed your video. 3 is the best imo. its the most fun and they got the story down great, also its nostalgic lol. 4 was fun too when i had it on ps4 but thats really it, little nostalgic since i got it in early college but thats it for it. 5 was enjoyable and fun as well, just never had an incentive to buy it honestly. then I bought FC2 on steam and i enjoyed it and felt immersed, just that the dialogue with the characters was so weird lol. i also wanted them to do something with the Jackel sooo badly, i think hes really cool villain.

Your problem with the far cry new dawn weapon upgrading system is stupid if you were only able to craft one weapon its because u didnt go searching for scraps witch are literally on the mountain if u buy the location

I don't get the title of this video from my understanding if you are telling me that this is wasted potential then I think you are mistaken the first 5 games including blood dragon are insanely successful and primal was also pretty successful as well that would make the franchise very successful not a down grad and yeah even though new dawn to some people wasn't the greatest far cry 6 is a very popular far cry and Anton is easily one of the best villains along with Vass,Pagan and Joseph and when you where complaining about Hurk you are making it seem like it's a bad thing that he is in basically every game it's a funny character that adds life to the game and yes some of the games have negatives but at the end of the day every game out their has negatives and regardless if some people complain about far cry 5 it's the most popular far cry of all time and most successful I have been playing this franchise for years and yes some of the games have negatives but just because new dawn wasn't received well and far cry 6 sometimes gets mixed feeling just because these two aren't received the same way doesn't make the franchise wasted potential this franchise is still one of the most popular franchises out there along with a bunch of others and are some of the best first person shooters.

I really liked far cry 4. I'm playing 6 now and I hate how different it is. I like the skill tree in 4.
